To change the settings for the number of decimal places, press the Mode key a number of times until you reach the setup screen shown below.
F i x Sc i No r m

Press the 1 key to select Fixed number of decimals to display
Press the 3 key to specify 3 decimal places.

The calculator will display the word Fix to indicate the display mode has changed. NOTE: the calculations will be made using 12 digits but the result will be made displaying only 3 decimal places. If you are using this for school and are instructed to use 3 decimals places for the calculations, you will need to use the Shift Rnd button to do the internal rounding. This will be important if you are taking a statistical class and find your answers are not matching the correct ones.

Best of luck, Jim

What is the default setting for the f cut 5/4 and the 4320 add 2 I don't know what to have these options set at thanks EW Seattle

The selector you are asking about is the "decimal selector". The result displayed/printed, will be in a format according to the position that you have selected as follows:
f = floating (the result will be in the number of decimal places that were entered on the keyboard
4= fixed 4 decimal places (x.0000)
3= fixed 3 decimal places (x.000)
2= fixed 2 decimal places (x.00)
0= fixed 0 decimal places (x)
add 2= (add mode*,fixed 2 places) ($.00)
Note* "ad mode" automatically enters the decimal place when entering the number on the keyboard. If you enter "123", the displayed ammount will be "1.23". If you enter "1", the display will read ".01". This is a useful setting when adding a list of numbers in a dollars/cents format, however, be careful, if entering a whole dollar ammount "three dollars" be sure to enter the decimal point, or enter the number as "300". If you don't, the result will be ".03", instead of the 3 dollars you intended.

SETTING UP THE DECIMAL ON NEW 210 TM

Set the +43210F switch to + (or 2).
On some models it is A43210F, then use A (or 2).
+ mode will let you enter numbers (monetary) without the decimal point and assumes cents; 2 mode will just round to 2 decimals, but you must enter the decimal.

I lost my decimal point

You need to be in add mode, and have 2 decimal places selected for the result.
To change to add mode, make sure the 'K . A' switch is in the 'A' position. To get 2 decimal places in the answer, move the selector in the 'F 6 3 2 1 0' switch to the '2' position.

You can see the above described at

this Sharp.com page which shows the users manual. The manual shows examples.
