HI, there are four problem spots that i recommend checking. these are the most common hot spots for a non responsive dishwasher. Check each area thoroughly to address this issue.

1. No power to the dishwasher
Make sure there's power getting to the dishwasher. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the dishwasher (inside the junction box, behind the bottom kick panel), if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch
Replace if defective.

3. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

4. Selector switch
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

I blew a fuse and now my dishwasher and oven will not come on. Is there a reset button for these appliances?

Some makes do, but normally you get something on the display. Did one of these appliances blow the fuse? In which case you need to find out what made the fuse blow. Do you have house fuses as opposed to breakers? Disconnect both appliances. Check the fuse or breaker, plug one item at a time. The one that is likely to blow the fuse is the dishwasher because of the water.

GE dishwasher. gld4500r00bb Buttons do not seem to work and the dishwasher does not come on. I have check the power cord and it is plugged in and the outlet does work. Any thoughts?

Check the plug. Sometimes the male prong gets bent a little and does not actually make contact in the wall. If that doesn't work make sure that wall plug actually works by plugging in a small lamp to see if it works. Check the houses circuit breaker.

I can't say for sure but it sounds like you lost house power to dishwasher. Being that the breaker is OK remove the dishwasher from cabinet and check power at the dishwasher. Its quite possible that mice may have ate through the wiring ether in the wall or at the washer.

The machine doesn't work even in plug

First check that the house circuit breaker isn't tripped. If it seems good, unplug the machine and plug a lamp or something in to check receptical. If all seems good let me know.

Dishwasher quit working in rinse cycle. Have checked circut breaker it is ok. The dishwasher has water in the bottom and will do nothing. I bought this disher at lowes on 10/04/2006.Paid $557.00 for it.

Hello,

what most likely is going to be the problem is a blown thermal fuse that attaches to the control panel housing. gain access to the control panel and use should see the thermal fuse, the housing for the control board is grey and this part is white.Remove the wires to it and check for contininity (zero ohms) on it using a ohm meter set to a low ohms setting. If it turns out to be good the next thing to check is the switch(s) on the latch asm using the same method to check them as the fuse.BEFORE CHECKING EITHER OF THOSE BE SURE TO DISCONNECT POWER TO THE DISHWASHER

Good luck, i hope that i 've helped you to figure out what is wrong with your dishwasher,
Gene

Dishwasher just stopped working

Hi there,

Well first of all you can check that there should be power from the house, Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.
Then you can check the door switch, the door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

No power to dishwasher and checked power breaker already it seams to be ok. I think its the door switch. I closed the door to hard one day so I wonder if it did something to it.

If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors. Timer or selector switch Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.
thanks.

Washer stopped mid-cycle, water in the bottom of the tub. Circuit breaker popped due to over-load. Reset breaker and it immediately popped again. Could this be cause by a jam in the grinder assembly?

My dishwasher just quit mid cycle. (still has water in it) It is a whirlpool partner 1. I checked the breaker and it wasn't tripped... but i reset it anyways. When I tried the dishwasher again it worked for a second and turned off. I have done reading about the thermo fuse but can't find it. Not sure how big of a problem this is.
Dishwasher is 5 years old.

Thanks,
Dale
