SOURCE: Ryobi PBC 3046YE strimmer starts but cuts out when speed control

A lack of acceleration in these units is most likely a fuel delivery related issue. It may possibly be time for a diaghram kit or carb rebuild kit to be installed in your carburetor. Ethanol in the gas deteriorates the parts that accomplish the acceleration procedure and may need to be replaced as they don't function anymore.
Many other things can affect these little machines as well such as clogged air filters, clogged crank case vent, clogged mufflers/exhaust ports./ spark arrestor screens...but more often than not, your problem is a carburetor issue.

The engine dies when you try to rev it

You have to adjust the H needle on the carburetor. Quarter turns, when adjusting the high, the H needle, you have to hold the trigger in, throttle high... if it bogs, turn the h a little at a time and depress the trigger slowly until u hear the sweet spot...very simple fix.

Hi, I have a Ryobi PBC 3046YB strimmer/brushcutter, which worked perfectly well in its first season, used about 10 times. When first used the following season, the machine would start easily, but when I...

This does not sound like an air leak, normally an air leak will cause fast uncontrollable idle, if it sounds muffled i would be looking at a blocked spark arrestor, or exhaust port, or muffler.Slacken the muffler right off and just try running it to see if it picks up normally.

Hi I have replaced the coil on my Ryobi PBC 3046YB Brush Cutter and need to get the clutch back together, is there a certain way it must go? I replaced it once and it vibrated a lot, I pulled it apart...

My personal suggestion would be to go for these repair catalogs. I know this website reliable-store.com that I used to buy them from, and they have online it was very good manual. Go ahead, I bet.

My ryobi pbc-3046YE brushcutter wont run. When I start with choke it races for a few seconds then cuts out, if I get it started without choke it idles briefly then cuts out, if I try to accelerate it cuts...

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
5) replace gaskets/diaphragms
b) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb

Ryobi 4stroke brush cutter, fading on full throttle

This running pattern often indicates a lean fuel mix.

Unfortunately, with today's environmental hysteria, you probably will not be able to adjust the carburetor enough to get it to run better. If you do have any carburetor adjustment available, try turning the screw (the high speed screw, if there are two) counter-clockwise a bit. This will allow more gas into the mixture. Most small engines today have limiter caps that prevent very much carburetor adjustment.

How do fit a hedge trimmer attachment to a rbc 40 sb brushcutter ? thanks

This unit was not made to have interchangeable heads. Ryobi makes a hedge trimmer attachment for some of its units that are quick connect.
Otherwise, you may buy this attachment and see if you can interchange the head from the brushcutter to the hedge trimmer. You may find it more work than you want to tackle.
