Question about Belkin F8E874 Mini Wireless Optical Mouse

1 Answer

Mouse inop. had a microsoft wired mouse installed prev.. could that be the problem?

I had a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical installed previously and tried to replace it with this Belkin MiniWireless. The control panel sees a Samsung Mouse USB Mouse and says it's working properly. The minimouse isn't working however! I have reset it and tried all 3 USB ports and it still doesn't work. It doesn't work with the other laptop I had installed the MS Wheel Optical mouse and I'm wondering if MS has something to do with the Belkin not working right.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Click on Control Panel and then Add a Device. Try adding your mouse as a generic HID Compliant mouse. Windows will install a driver. Then go to the download page Microsoft Software Downloads

Can I use a new MS wireless mouse to replace my existing MS wireless mouse. Currently my mouse and keyboard connect together on the same wireless USB device. Could the new mouse be detected and be used...

I suppose there is a reset button on the keyboard or the software provided so I suppose it could be possible, I don't know.
I use a Microsoft Wired Keyboard...
But Best of luck.

Microsoft Optical 1.1A Wheel Mouse Optical - USB, PS/2 (D66-00034)

Hi again,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me" and the repeat use of FixYa.

Interesting concern, should be pretty straightforward. Anyways, pls try to:
  • update/re-install the driver from Microsoft Download page;
  • alternately, disable the "Allow the computer to turn off..." in the Power Management tab of the USB Root Hub Properties in your Device Manager.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you again for using FixYa.
