Question about Sony SAL-500F80 AF 500mm f/8.0 Reflex Autofocus Lens
I brought the sony a100 slr to learn on as it was cheap. It came with a sony reflex 8/500 lens. Does anyone know where I can find a manual on how to get the most out of this lens as I have no idea!! Thanks alot, and any help would be greatly appreciated :)
A mirror lens is a specialty lens. It's a huge telephoto, but shrunk by using mirrors (hence the name). It's a fixed F8 aperture, no auto focus. Looking on the web, this seems to be AF but from a number of uses it "hunts" as due to the tiny depth of field. It's for photographing items at least 300 feet away. The depth of field is tiny (area in focus). You may have to to turn off any "program" modes. This lens will work in "auto" mode where the camera chooses the shutter speed. A tripod is almost a must. Since you have a digital camera... go out and try it... just delete the out of focus and blurry ones.
