A mirror lens is a specialty lens. It's a huge telephoto, but shrunk by using mirrors (hence the name). It's a fixed F8 aperture, no auto focus. Looking on the web, this seems to be AF but from a number of uses it "hunts" as due to the tiny depth of field. It's for photographing items at least 300 feet away. The depth of field is tiny (area in focus). You may have to to turn off any "program" modes. This lens will work in "auto" mode where the camera chooses the shutter speed. A tripod is almost a must. Since you have a digital camera... go out and try it... just delete the out of focus and blurry ones.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Needed: 35mm single lens reflex variable aperture, shutter speed & focus. Can b overridden to manual operation for class. What should I buy?

Just about every 35mm SLR ever made fits that description.

Three that will more than suit your needs are

This camera has been called the finest 35mm SLR ever produced, but it's probably overkill for a class:

Hi. I have Sony a100 slr camera and Minolta 28-100 lens. One day the camera suddenly said that lens is not attached and wont make any shot.

Remove the lens and clean the contacts on the lens and camera body where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

I am confused. Is the N 75 an SLR or 35 mm. My daughter needs a 35 mm for a photography course. She has an N 75.

Both. The Nikon N75 is a 35mm SLR camera. 35mm refers to the size of the film the camera uses. SLR (single-lens-reflex) refers to the design of the camera, which uses the same lens for both viewing and photographing, the film sees the same image you see in the viewfinder.

There are other 35mm cameras that are not SLRs. Likewise, there are SLRs that use other sizes of film.

I have been offered a SiGMA 400mm F/5.6 manual lens for a minolta mount. Will it fit my camera? Cheers Pete

Minolta had two lens mounts. One for manual focus SLR film cameras and one for Auto Focus SLR Maxxum film and digital SLR cameras. Sony uses Minolta Maxxum lens mount.
If the Sigma 400 f5.6 lens was made for Minolta X-700 series, XG, series, XD series, SRT series, then it will not fit on your camera.

I want to view construction diagram or a diagram that can explain Reflex mirrir lens for digital slr camera.

Same principle as a reflex telescope- might Wikipedia Schmidt-cassegrain OR reflex telescope for more info. Long glass lenses need a lot of correction for fact that different wavelengths refract at different angles, while those same beams of light bend the same when reflected.

Spots on my sensor, any way ''I'' can clean it?

Make sure the battery is fully charged (or use the optional AC adapter).

Select "Clean CCD" from the Setup menu.

Select "Yes" in response to the prompt, then press the center of the controller. After the CCD vibrates for a short while, the mirror lifts.

Detach the lens.

Use a blower brush (NOT canned compressed air) to clean the sensor and the surrounding area.

Reattach the lens and turn power off.

This procedure is given on page 103 of my copy of the A100 manual.

If this doesn't do an adequate job, you can either buy some swabs from a good camera store, or take your camera in and have it done professionally.

HELP APERTURE PROBLEM! When I attach any lens to the Nikon FM10

This is normal. the lens stay at the largest opening so you can see to focus, then the mechanics will close to the setting when the exposure is made. This is part of the reflex in single lens reflex (SLR). This part staying open when you focus keeps lyou from having to open the aperture to focus and then close it to the correct setting to shoot the picture.

See the following web address for a .pdf manual which you should download and save. It's for an is-20dlx but it's the same camera as your is-200.

Changing lens

Your Nikon is a SLR which stands for single lens reflex. The reflex part is the way the mirror that lets you look through the lens to frame the picture flips up to let the light go straight to the film. You can change the lens half way through the film roll because the mirror is down while you change the film and blocks light from getting to the film, just as it blocks the light until you push the shutter button. Have fun with your 'new' camera! I use an even older style Nikon FE2. I like my Nikon 55mm macro lens but your newer camera takes autofocus lenses so you'll need advice from someone else for that.
