Question about Mitsubishi WS-65809 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Red and blue streaks across the screen top and bottom

I have a mitsubishi WS 65809 rear projection tv and today as I was watching the tv the screen changed and has red curved streaks across the top of the screen and red and blue straight lines across the bottom plus the letters on the bottom will be doubled one blue and the other in red. My son took the back of the tv off just to look and the red bulb has within it the same curved look within the bulb which might be the filiment. If it is the bulbs how much to replace them and does it take a tech to do it.
thanks

The Convergence Amp IC's are bad. You should call a good TV Tech for this repair.

It needs to be repaired by having the convergence ICs replaced or resoldered (if intermittent).

Parts are STK 392-570. Be sure to use thermal paste on the ICs.

I have a rear projection TV, (Mitsubishi WS-65809) And the convergence will never stay put. I have to readjust the fine convergence every week (for both SD and HD) and that's a PITA. Both the red and blue...

It may well be an age-related thing. Repeated wear on the unit can make components less reliable. I've owned a few projection TVs and many of them had to be readjusted every 2 weeks or so just because they're so old.

If you still enjoy the TV, then I guess you could look for some replacement parts, but many of them would be old and expensive anyways.

I have little boxes at the bottom of my screen. They appear when there is a light picture on the screen. Three rows of small rectangles. Help! Mitsi 65 that just got the blinking green light fixed.

you're probably used to watch tv with le closed captioned on. On big sceen tvs, the closed captioned text will burn the 3 crts (green, red and blue) it is written on the first page of your owner manual and there is nothing to do to fix it. it would very costly. sorry
