Meanwhila I am using an USB mouse and everything else works Ok. When she gave me the A60 I reinstalled the OS with the original DVD but still it does not work. Any idea.........?

I don't know if this is kind of late but try doing a cold boot to the laptop. If that does not work check if the program for the touchpad is installed. If not I suggest that you somehow get your hands on one. Also like tenstepper said check if the mouse is locked. On your keyboard there should be an icon indicating a touchpad on it. Press it and it should work just fine.

You might check to see if the touchpad is locked.

I am using HP ELITEBOOK 8460p latop. My touch light glows automaticllay and unable use the touchpad. Please help me

Hi,
You might have disabled the touchpad accidentally. If the touchpad is disabled it is indicated by a yellow LED on upper left corner of the touchpad and when the TouchPad is active, the light is off.
To turn the TouchPad on, quickly double-tap the TouchPad off indicator (the yellow LED).

Touchpad stopped working when a friend openned the laptop to fix the DC power pin. reinstalled driver, power cycled, disabled and enabled touchpad, still only works with mouse. keyboard works fine

Most probably, your friend disconnected the cable connecting the touchpad to the motherboard while disassembling the laptop to fix the DC power pin, & forgot to reconnect it back.
You will need to partially disassemble the laptop again & reconnect the touchpad to the motherboard.

Brand new computer touchpad not working

The blue light is mostly indicating that your touchpad is locked or 'off'. You can turn it on by pressing the 'Function key' (usuallly denoted Fn) and press one of the Fx (F1 - F12) keys with the touchpad lock option.

The wireless button should be located on the top left part of your laptop. It will be the 3rd button from the left.

Toshiba satellite A60 no boot

We can only assume that because the cd drive operates then the motherboard is operating in part, although, the southbridge chip may be damaged, as the northbridge works memory etc. Maybe it is that the processor is fried as there is no fan and the system then shuts down. Toshiba are probably half way there with the answer, unless; they investigated further and decided it was not the processor but the motherboard.
