Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Brother MFC-9840CDW almost brand new leaking black toner. Prints text ok(sometimes a little blurry)but anything solid looks all smeared in both black and white and color. Print toner is set to paper so does not come off when you rub it but prints of graphics and pictures are unusable. Worked fine at first and then this problem started. David

The problem can had been caused by a faulty toner cartridge, before asking a replacement you must ensure it is not depending on the cartridge.

First try replacing the toner cartridge with a new original one, do this after cleaning the inside of the printer.

To clean the printer inside before installing the new toner , follow instructions here:Clean your laser printer safely with these tips.

If after that the printer is still spreading toner, then the printer is defective. In that case call Brother at the number listed on the owners manual and have the printer replaced or repaired under the one year factory standard warranty.
If the fault had been caused by a non-original toner cartridge, Brother may refuse to validate the warranty.

Regards.

Does this printer have transfer and pickup rollers? If so many times these rollers go bad and can cause that problem. If it uses powdered toner, check for toner buildup near the ends of these rollers as well.

Low Toner Warning

Turn the unit off. Remove the cartridge and shake it back and forth. Ten place it and turn the unit back on. Also you can reset the counter on the cartridge, go to UNI KIT and look under Brother TN 110 refill support. These people sell refills. The ink you get with he printer is minimal. Also turning the printer off and back on will help with resetting. I found that there is plenty of toner left when the warning comes on.
