G'Day!

If your TV is an LCD or plasma, you will have to replace the whole thing. The screen of an LCD is called the panel and it actually costs more than what you paid for the TV retail. This is why when a panel develops a defect, 90% of the manufacturers out there will replace the TV instead of repairing it.

If you have a rear projection or DLP, you can contact the manufacturer regarding the replacement costs of the screen. Be prepared though. . . .the cost will not be slight.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need further assistance so that I can help you further.

Is their anyway you could fix a 47LGLM6700

Unfortunately no, you would need to replace the internal panel on the TV and honestly the labor and part would cost more then just buying a new set in most cases. If the screen has a glass cover and just the glass is cracked but the rest of the picture looks fine (no distortion in the LCD) then you could just remove the glass and run the screen unprotected or copy the dimensions of the glass/plastic and send it away to have a new sheet made to fit.

I need a new glass screen for my LCD Sylvania LD370SC85

even if the glass is not part of the screen unit I suspect it is not sold as a part, most are bonded to the display panel which costs more than a new set.......

The glass on my 18-200 lens was cracked on the very edge of the lens. I was wondering how expensive is it to replace the glass?

hi there...
so sorry to hear that your lens was cracked...
the reparation will costs you expensive enough, and i suggest you buy a new one
if the lens still working, you still can use it taking pictures, but the picture will need some correction using photoshop or any other graphic software

thanks

My son threw a ball and hit the screen cracks all over can this be fixed with a new screen or is it junk now really bright light shows through all the crack marks

The front glass is just a protector for the LCD screen. If your TV turns on and the picture looks ok (may be a little color variation around the crack if front glass is pushing on it, variation OK black Bad) If the picture looks within the range described then replace the glass. It is just a piece of standard glass and a pretty easy diy job. If the LCD screen is broken the repair will be more than the replacement cost. Sad fact US TV repairmen make a living wage while the workers that assembled you TV wouldn't be able to buy lunch here with what they made putting it together.

Cracked lcd screen

You see cracks in glass that is not generic glass. It is LCD Panel made of new technology.  That glass has few layers and a large amount of liquid crystal dots array built in. There are few polarizer in between LCD Panel. Below is an image having bit details about LCD Panel.

Hope this will clear the concept of LCD Panel vs generic glass.

How to Fix Cracked LCD Screen?

Dear Confused,

Sorry to hear about your phone screen.

There is only one way to make your screen look better, but it will not "fix" the crack. I have done this and sometimes i cannot even tell my screen is still cracked and i didnt have to pay Apple $350 for a new piece of glass.

Here is what you can try:

1. Go to a auto parts store and buy a "Winshield repair kit" for small rock chips that look like a bullseye style chip.

2. CAREFULLY CLEAN THE GLASS WITH ALCOHOL and let dry for 10 minutes. Then heat up the glass of your phone with a hair drier for about 2 minutes so its hot, but not too hot to handle.

3. Then very, very slowly and cautiously, cut the tip of the nipple on the "epoxy/resin" bottle they have in the repair pack and while the phone glass is still hot (you may want to cut the tip of the bottle first, then heat up your phone), gentle squeeze the clear resin into and along the crack in your phones glass....Squeeze the resin directly along the entire length of the crack while attempting to squeeze it INTO THE CRACK...its diffucult, however, the heated glass will **** in the cool resin and actually fill in the crack.

Make sure not to get the resin on the phone or your skin!!!

AND BE PATIENT WHEN applying it.

ALSO, try to do this on a sunny day, because you have to place the glass in direct sunlight, or under a UV light to allow the epoxy/resin to cure. IT WILL NOT WORK UNDER A NORMAL LIGHT BULB. SUNLIGHT Actually works best.

Leave it in the sunlight for at least 1 hour or longer. Then wait another 24hrs before taking a razor blade to scrap off the excess resin that has built up on the glass.

FYI, it the crack to too deep the epoxy will seep thru the glass and this process wont work.

However, if your lucky this should be what your looking for!

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

THanks,

Mark

Broken screen

if it is limited to external glass the glass can be ordered separately but if there is internal crack on pdp itself would have to replace pdp. from my experience generally if it limited to crack on external glass there still should be picture so there may be additional damage to plasma display itself
