As for ur pre wash u can just turn off machine for 20 minutes and pre soak items then turn back on. As for ur wet clothes check for loose worn belt if belt driven, or a loose slipping bad clutch and brake assembly. I would also check to make sure water pump is not clogged

SOURCE: stops right before draining pre-rinse and spin cycle

HI. The first action is to test the lid switch. The lid switch ensures that the lid is closed before enabling the machine to spin or agitate. This feature was added after serious injuries resulted from people reaching into an operating washing machine. For this reason, the lid switch should never be bypassed. Aside from electrical problems, the switch may suffer from a mechanical problem. The lid may have a striker which depresses the switch when the lid is closed. Make sure the striker is functioning and aligned with the hole over the switch. Inspect the switch and make sure the metal strip is not bent out of position (if present). If your switch uses a mercury switch, make sure the mercury envelops the internal contacts when it is in the closed lid position. Your design may differ, so inspect it for proper operation before proceeding to the electrical testing. There are two primary types of lid switches. One type on which you can directly test the terminals on the switch and another style where you have to test it at the wiring harness. In either case the method for testing the switch is the same. If a wiring harness is used, separate the two pieces of the harness and test the side of the harness that connects to the switch. Test the switch for continuity using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should display a reading of infinity. Depress the button on the lid switch and the reading should change from a reading of infinity to roughly zero. If it does not pass both of these tests, the switch should be replaced.

Some lid switches also have a fuse, you can visually inspect the fuse or test it for continuity with a multimeter. If the fuse is bad, replace it with one of the same rating.

NOTE_ If the lid switch passes the examination, the culprit will be the timer mechanism.

SOURCE: Hello The washing machine is not going through

The lid switch has failed. It will not spin because it is a safety device.

GE GFWN1100LWW. Can the high speed spin work on the lower wash cycles?

From my experience, the lower wash cycles are set to only do certain things. For example: the Delicate won't do a high speed spin, even though a high speed spin wouldn't really be destructive to delicates, but would force more water out of them! I usually just run a "Drain/Spin" after the Delicate cycle.

The low spin is to ******* delicate things. Then you need a no spin, then it's to wet to ring out. what do you say on this?

No spin, or lite spin try these: bare in mind that many times there is no spin it can be due to a clogged water pump so check it for debris and or broken propeller.

Other items to check Using a multi meter check for continuity the door switch, which when bad may not allow agitation or spin. Bare in mind the lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically.

Check the clutch, brake assembly and transmission, one way to check for slipping is to get under the machine after a spin cycle ( this is if u get a lil spin but not much leaving clothes still wet) mix in a spray bottle a lil water and some dish detergent, then spray it on the clutch assembly ( the metal round pc. Connected to the tranny) if it sizzles and steams up then u know its bad and slipping. Another way to check clutch if u get no spin at all? Is to take it out and use ur hand to try and turn the inner spring assembly pushing it around the inside? If its very easy, it BAD should be hard to push by hand.

Or try the hand test:

If no hammering sound has ever been heard out of this machine, one of the unofficial tests we professional appliantologists will do in the field is called the Hand Test. WARNING:This test is not sanctioned by Whirlpool Corporation; it involves bypassing safety equipment and then putting your hand on and near rotating machinery which could result in injury, dismemberment, disfigurement, disembowelment, mangling, hideous screaming, and a bloody death. Proceed at your own risk! Have a nice day.

- put the timer on a spin cycle and open the lid- grab the inner basket with maybe 30% to 40% of your hand strength with your left hand

- turn on the machine and bypass the lid switch by depressing the lid switch with a key until the machine begins to spin

- if the clutch is engaging properly, the basket should immediately begin to spin and slip through your hand

- if it takes very little force to stop the tub from spinning, the clutch needs to be replaced.

Next check the motor coupler which engages the tub and tranny to the motor. ( if its bad u usually get no wash or spin or very little of either)

Next if belt driven check for a loose, worn or broken belt. And on some models there is no clutch but rather what is called a splutch. And a MODE shifter. These can go bad and effect the spin cycle.

On some front load models u may need to check the STATOR assembly.

The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Sometimes a no spin machine can be due to a plugged waterpump hose or obstructed water pump propeller. Check these by eye and hand. And in some models check with a meter for continuity and voltage.

next step is toremove the cabinetand jumper the lid switch harness (tan to gray). Put the unit in spin and watch the shiny metal clutch disc that is on top of the transmission where the shaft comes out. If the machine starts and runs in spin, check to see if the disc is spinning. If it is, then the problem isnot in the gearcase- look for trouble in theclutch, basket driveor the tub drive block

If, on the other hand, the disc is NOT spinning, check for a problem withthe motor drive coupleror one of its retainers. This washer doesn't have a belt. Instead, the motor is directly coupled to the gearcase by a drive coupler; that's why it's called a direct drive washer.

Washer goes into OL or UL after 14 to 16 minutes in any wash cycle. Change cycle to drain & spin and it will drain water and spin clothes pre dry clothes for dryer

This is a tough one as so many things can trigger the OL overload first I would raise the top panel check the 4 suspension rods one each corner make not bent that the spring still attached at bottom also up top where rods hook into plastic cup that there is no rust so the plastic inserts can move freely if all is good remove basket from tub making sure nothing in between pretty common with the machine empty grab the basket and see if you can raise it about an inch and it falls back into place it should this is the hub that engages, a cracked basket ring that has lost its fluids with do this very rare with an empty machine spin the basket you should her what sounds like water sloshing around this is the fluid in the basket ring have seen them loose normally you get a clicking sound now the tech sheet does not offer any help with unbalanced load or over load but to say redistribute load there are no sensors on the machine to create these codes the control senses drag on the motor which causes this to flash after checking everything I mentioned the factory would recommend changing the RPS sensor first from there the rotor and stator then the control usually when these parts are suspect you would get an F47 error code sorry I cant pinpoint the problem but usually these codes appear in the spin cycle not wash.

I have an Estate Model TAWX700PQO. It will fill up, wash, and drain but will not spin. HELP need my washer daily.

Has your machine got a delicate cycle or a switch to turn it on and off? Some machine have a cycle for delicate fabrics where it will do all the wash except a spin to protect the clothes, if you have this feature make sure it is not switched on or that you are using this program for the wash.

Unable to find an english operating manual for a miele w822 washing m/c

Hi Dear. I assume this machine made for Nederlands - Dutch market. You can not obtain English manual for it. You may contact your local Miele center. They may able to supply you translated copy of user manual. Thanks.

Note: What I can understand from control panel, buttons from left to right : Door Button - On/Off - Pre -wash - Water Plus (adds more water)- Gentle wash and Short wash then Final spin speed selector.
Right hand side Program & wash temperature selector (Clock wise): Cottons - Minimum Iron - Delicate - Wool - Starch - Spin only - Pump only & Mini Program (Quick Wash)

Agitator will not work on wash but works on pre wash and rince.

Hello, welcome to Fixya.

It sounds like you may have a broken belt based on your description,

"it starts up fine and then is silent and motionless through the entire wash cycle. this is true in normal, permanent press, and delicate cycles"

Does the timer advance if left alone after filling ?

Have you access the back panel ( removed it ) and visually inspect the washer drive system ( belt, pulley, motor ) ?

You could also have a faulty motor, although that typically manifest's in only rotating in one direction and not the other so you would see some action.

Have you tried the washer in a spin cycle ?

Let me know how far you've progressed in the diagnosis and I'll watch for your reply and assist you further if necessary.

Spin cycle works sometimes, or does not spin hard enough to remove most of water

Many high-end washers have two spin cycle speeds. The low speed is for delicate fabrics. Yours may be stuck in the low speed. Check that you are selecting the wash cycle with the high speed spin.

If you are and it continues to spin at the low speed then your controller is most likely at fault. Your gearbox could be bad too but it usually complains with a lot of noise.

If this helps you, please select YES to one of the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

What does "IE" mean when it attempts spin cycle?

is it IE or LE please confirm it. if it is LE code the fixing procedure is given below This usually happens if you're washing on a delicate setting with a moderate load of clothes. Apparently, delicate also means very few items to wash. To clear the LE code - no need to unload the clothes:
1. Press the power button to turn the washer off.
2. Press the power button to turn the washer back on.
3. Cycle the spin cycle selection to 'no spin'.
4. Press start.
The washer should set to one minute, lock the doors, then drain out the excess water.
Once the 'End' cycle comes up, unplug the machine for several minutes.
Plug the washer back in, press the power button, then set the washer to 'normal' with 'low' spin setting.
Note that the only difference between the normal setting and delicate is the wash time and spin cycle speed. If you have a moderate to large load of delicates, use the normal setting on low spin cycle. The clothes really don't care. Also, make sure you're using 'HE' detergent - low suds. Regular degergent in a front load is not recommended.
