Question about Quasar VV-2002 20 in. TV/VCR Combo

Quasar 20" TV/Combo shuts off automatically each night. I checked the timer feature without success.

It appears that the TV shuts off by itself every morning between 2AM and 3AM. Unfortunately either of us turns the TV back on. When I try to turn just hit the TV "on" button, it will not turn on. I then turn the Time Warner Cable box "on" and "off" and "on" and then turn the TV "on". At 2 in the morning I am not very awake, but I think the cable box is "on" and the TV is "off". Although this has been going on for a month My significant other seems to always be the one to turn "on" the TV.

I was hoping this was a common problem.

I thought I solved the problem last week when we found the original remote and I was able to reset the clock which shut off the timer light. There is no tape in the VCR.

I will have my significant other wake me up tonight to verify that the cable box was not shut off.

This make take a couple of nights to resolve. Please stay with me.

I am assuming that you are talking about the sleep feature having been checked. Is there a specific time that it shuts off each night, perhaps after being on for exactly 1 hour without having pressed a button? Are you playing a video when it happens, watching on air television, or does it happen during both instances? Please give me as much information on what exactly happens and what is the same and different between each instance to further help me understand why this is happening.

I have a black box that appeared on my quasar tv. It will go away when I change channel or adjust the volume but then it'll come back within a few seconds.

This is the closed-caqptioning box. Work your way through the menus on the TV and turn off this feature. That should resolve the problem.

Set up for cable

You might be able to restore the factory settings by pressing "play" and "FF" simultaneously and hoding them down until the set shuts off (about 5 seconds). Then when you turn it back on it will lead you through the setup routine, which includes auto channel select.

Plan B would be to buy a universal remote.
