Hi Pat:

Sometimes the spreader plate mechanism will have a bit of material left in it after use, and that will swell up from moisture in the air. Try giving it a really good hosing with your garden hose, and then manually try to work the mechanism back and forth to loosen it up. Be gentle and patient. Some of these devices have plastic gears that break easily.

The wheels on the Scott's 3000 spreader will not turn. How can this be fixed?

Not sure but check and see if the propeller that throws the seed turns, I feel the gears that the wheels are hooked into are seized. Try turning the propeller
by hand and see if you can free it. If its too bad you may have to get a new spreader.

Can i get replacement wheels for the scotts edgeguard pro spreader

try a mower shop or hardware shop
if they don't have in stock they can tell you where to buy the wheels
Try a shop that sells wheels and castors as they have a good range on the shelf

Seed or fertilizer drops down and just sits there, won't turn anymore

Turn the spreader over and inspect the drive gear, by turning the wheels. If the gearbox is enclosed, you will need to open the cover. If the gears do not mesh, then see if you can tighten up any retaining rings or seals. If the gears are stripped, then you probably need to replace the spreader.

My scotts rotory spreader will not spin

The design is quite simple with one wheel driving a bevel gear in a gear box. If the wheel turns the axle shaft and the center pin in the spreader with the retainer/cotter pin does not turn it is likely something has failed in the gear box.

If both wheel spins and the axle does not turn than the drive wheel has disengaged the axle shaft and the cotter pin in the drive wheel needs to be replaced.

The compounds used in the spreaders are corrosive. Usually the gears and axle become bound due to corrosion. By oiling the bearings and wiggling the wheels they will free up,

I have a Scott's rotary spreader that I use to spread Scott's Turfbuilder Plus 2 on the lawn. The problem is that the material collects on the rim of the wheels, and then dispenses in tracks on the lawn,...

It sounds to me like your grass is wet when you're applying, which is what the label calls for if you're trying to kill weeds. But is this wet grass maybe TOO TALL when you're pushing the spreader through it?
Next time, try mowing the lawn, then waiting 1-2 days before applying Turfbuilder Plus 2.
If anything were to work as anti-stick agent on the wheels, it would be Pam spray from your kitchen cupboard. Spray, let sit a while, then buff dry.

I have a Scott Rotary Fertilizer Spreader. When I load up the bucket and move the spreader, the fertilizer on the rotor does not spread because rotor does not move

If the wheels turn( that is you can push the spreader easily) but the vertical shaft that spins the broadcasting plate doesn't, seems like the gears connecting the axle to that vertical shaft are worn; but if the wheels just slide along the gropund without turning then it would seem something right under the bin is keeping the verical shaft from turning. But I'm NOT an expert; I'm looking for an answer myself,

Spreaders how does it work?

An axle or “beater bar” is located inside the bin next to an open slot in the floor. Attached to the axle is a series of beater arms or paddles. When the axle turns, the paddles break up the material and direct it toward the opening where it is deposited evenly on the soil.
