I live on the Coast, generally cooking for one, and have not had my Grill long 1.5 years. I've had problems with two of the three burners igniting and when they do they sputter and hiss and only a portion...

From what you have described and where you live (on the coast), it sounds as if the burner orifices and/Or burners may be clogged. You will need to remove the burners to clean them, but this is not a difficult job. Turn off your LP Gas Tank. And after removing the burners, tap each one gently on a firm surface to shake loose any foreign materials from them. Stand each burner on the Orifice end (the open end) and tap them again, gently. Look at where each was tapped to see if any foreign material or rust came out. Also carefully check the flame holes in each burner to make sure they're clear. If clogged use a needle or unfolded paper clip to clear the clogged burner holes. However, never use any thing larger than the existing hole to clean it.

After doing this, check the orifices for each burner. You can find them by looking at the interior part of the front of the grill, where you removed the burners from. If they appear clogged, clean them as you did the burner, but this time use a sewing needle no larger in diameter than the orifice hole. It's best to unscrew the orifices one at a time to do this. Be careful not to drop them.Replace the orifices and burners in reverse of how you removed them. Turn on your grill tank very slowly and then light each burner, one at a time.

If this solved your problem, remember to do it each year.

Can not light gas grill - Weber 8006 Have done all suggested thing such as full tank of gas, regulator checked, check for spider webs. No gas seems to be reaching burners.

This grill is definitely worth fixing. I have had similar problems with several weber 8006 grills. It is usually something obstructing or diluting the flow of fuel. If you have a new tank and your igniter is working (you have tried using a propane hand-held lighter, I assume) then it seems that it must be either the hose/gas line or the burner tubes. I would first check the main tubes and cross tube carefully for places that are rusted through. Holes can lower the pressure in the tubes and make them difficult to light (try just turning on and lighting the front burner). I would then clean the tubes at the spider trap/air vent end, which is nearest the propane tank. The spider traps, if you have them, are little plastic cages and the edges snap together. You can use a vacuum to gently clean out the tubes. If this does not work, you can buy or borrow a similar, but working hose. As they say, "it is always the last thing you try that fixes the problem".

Yellow flame

You may have a rusted, clogged or damaged burner or venturi tube. With a flashlight, check for spider webs, wasp nests or dirt (mud) dauber nests in the opening of the venturi tube where it connects at each gas valve orifice. Clean it out manually or blow it out with air compressor. Make sure the air adjustment opening (on the end of the burner's venturi tube) has not been changed. If it's closed too much, it will be difficult to light and cause lazy yellow flames. If it's not clogged, the burner may just be old and rusted and the burner holes are not allowing very much gas through anymore. It's also possible the burner has rusted so bad, the burner holes have been enlarged, it is falling apart or has cracks along the burner seams. If so, replace the burner(s) immediately. It is unsafe to use. Your local propane co can usually order the parts you need and some will even do the work, if you are uncomfortable doing it yourself. Bring with you the Make, Model and Serial number of the grill, so they can order the correct parts for your specific grill. Also specify whether it's natural gas2_bing.gif or propane.

Have a Goodman GMT070-3B which the vent motor seems to be sticking. I took apart and cleaned the brushes and reassembled. The furnace will come on only after what seems like the vent motor comes up to...

The whole assembly must be replaced.

The sequence of operation is -

Combustion fan purges the heat exchanger. A pressure switch verifies combustion air fan is running. Usually a 30-45 second purge before the hot surface ignitor glows, or the spark ignition starts.

Gas valve opens after 10-15 seconds and main burners light. Control board monitors for flame and shuts gas valve after 2-3 seconds if main burner does not light.

If burner does not light, some boards repeat this for 3 tries, then locks out and is reset by cycling power.

Air blower comes on after another 30-45 seconds after main burner ignition.

Times may vary based on the specific controller board. A flow chart and timing sequence should be located somewhere on the unit, usually in the fan compartment.

Get replacement burners and preheat them once. Then paint them with high temp enamle paint to withstand the temps of the grill. The burners are regular untreated steel and not the stainless that one would expect. Painting them will prevent them from rusting out after 2 years. Just make sure you temper them once before you paint them as they will expand a little. Then paint them and enjoy!

If he removed a draft hood you may need to replace that but first be sure their is no junk or soot on your burners and your gas orfaces on the gas manifold are clear. They screw in at each burner on the main gas line and may have small webs in them that look like lint. Your burners may have rust or soot on them that could have fallen off your heat exchanger if he cleaned it while he had the top off. Hope this helps, good luck.
