I just purchased a car with a CDA-7892. At night, the unit is dark until I turn it on. Just wondering, should it have a back light that comes on when the headlights are turned on? The other stereos I've had did.
The wiring is a hack-job. Which wires should I connect to get it to backlight with the dashlights?
Thank you.

- Thank you for the information and links. I pulled the radio, and there's no orange wire. -guess that's why it's not illuminated when off.
Thank you for your time, though.
The "illumination" lead on the CDA-7892 is ORANGE and terminated with a spade lug. It should be connected to the appropriate instrument panel light lead from the vehicle wiring harness. You can download a copy of the manual here with all of the wiring color codes. If you do not know the vehicle color code, you can probably find it at www.modifiedlife.com. Just click on "Car Stereo Wiring Diagrams" at the top and select your vehicle make, model and year.
