I then set the tv up in the bedroom. connected tv to electrical cable. turned tv on, then tv came on for few seconds and went black, came on again for a split second, made a red and white color flash and went black. it wont turn back on. can anyone tell me if its the picture tube or something else? its an older tv from 2006. not a flat screen or plasma or lcd, an older model tv. its an Ilo brand.heres the problem. You might have pressed the 'Source selector' button; (AV) button. Just press that button again and again till the selected source appear as "TV'. Gopakumar Gopalan Google
Check all the connections to the picture tube base socket, and associated components. Check and resolder all the solder terminals of CRT base socket. If solder terminals that carry filament voltage have dry soldering points, this type of fault can occur.
If the fuse burned out the the tv would not turn on at all. When the tv is on is the back light still on? If its not its probably the back light that needs changing. If its on then its one of the circuit boards.
sounds like one of the tubes is gone. RGB stands for red green blue. These colours are mixed together to make all the other different colours on your tv's picture. when one goes then you end up with whats left working. If tv is fairly old chances are its cheaper to replace then to try getting fixed. tv's have came down drastically in price lately because of such high demand and competition to the market.
> jfthr - Tv convertor boxes transfer digital signals into ANALOG. So when it goes to the dvd recorder it IS ANALOG. I have my antenna hooked to my convertor box, the converter hooked up to the ILO (A/V connections) then, the output on the ILO to the input of my analog tv. (Video selection on my tv). It works great to watch tv and/or record. I switch to the "DVD SOURCE" to watch dvds. Maybe you have the conv box hooked to the tv then the outs on the tv to the dvd. That would explain why you can get a picture but not watch dvd? The ILO has to go between the box and the tv in order to watch dvd.
