TV cut off. Little red dot on black screen. Sharp 20f - m100 model

This is a common problem. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can fix it yourself. There is a thermo detection capacitor (round) on the main circuit board that has to be replaced. Use a low wattage soldering iron (25Watt)and electronics solder. If you aren't familiar with electronics soldering; then it's best to replace the set... repairers will charge you more than the set is worth to replace the $5 part and you can buy better ones these days. It is best to NOT wall mount these types of sets as they often overheat and fail.

Bad color

If it is a glass crt then you need to have the set demagnatized with a demagnatizing coil. All tv shops have one. This is worth fixing and usually at the price of a service call.

Sony Trinitron Color Rainbow

Usually when a tv is dropped the phospher screen inside the picture tube will detatch making the rainbow color This cannot be fixed as it requires changing the picture tube. Only other thing is demagnatize it with a demagnitizing coil (used by tv techs) but not likely to fix it since it was dropped. You have a bad picture tube.

Panasonic Color Rings

It sounds like you have a warped shadow mask in your picture tube if your set uses a picture tube. A shadow mask is like a screen wire that lets the three color guns shoot electrons to their respective phosphor dot on the screen to produce the three primary colors which are mixed properly to produce the scene that is being shown. In other words you have a bad picture tube. Stargazer

Red screen

Christ, why did you disturb the bias settings? Which stupid @#$% told you to that? The red color was most likely a blown Red Output Transistor, or something as simple as a bad CRT base. Now, I suggest that you switch off the TV, wait for a couple of hours, open the set, and very slowly and carefully pull the CRT PCB (along with sockets base. Then clean the CRT terminals (use a fine emery sheet.) Also check the base for dry (cold) solders. Replace the CRT board. Picture should be normal. If problem persits, then it is definitely the Red Output Transistor or associated components. Get a professional to have a look.

Focus good in centre but fuzzy around edges

If you have some electronics experience, is it with TV'S?? There is way to much Hi Voltage inside these sets to be tweeking around as this set will have to be plugged in and running when you do the a grey scale alighnment and color drive alighnment. If the pic is out of focus on the outside its probably like you said not wrth a techs time unless you wanna pay a min. bench charge to clean the grids inside the CRT with a speacial piece of test equipment. As a handy man its not a good idea to service these sets as there are no user serviceable parts inside+. Good Luck
