Honda ES6500k2A generator will not start. Oil,coolant and fuse are OK. No sediment in bowl. cannot find any jet to clean. Starts with fluid, but stops. Float is working

Main jet on carb is clogged. Starts when you prime but then will shut off.

Remove and disassemble carb taking pains to thoroughly clean the main jet area with cleaner.
Check the holes that you have in the bolt that holds the bowl in place - they must be clear! Spray cleaner up the tube that runs into the bowl.

I have a 06 honda trx250ex put new gas and oil in it and plug and battery and iit turns over but wont start but when i put started fluid in where the plug goes it starts for like a second or so and quits...

your problem is a clogged carb. clean float valve, main jet and idle circuit with a can of spray carb cleaner.

disconnect fuel hose at carb and see if gas flows.

reconnect hose and open float bowl drain valve. If no gas tap on side of float bowl with plastic end of screwdirver to free up float.

still no gas? remove float bowl and try to shoot carb cleaner into the fitting for the gas line from tank.

if gas flows now then put it all back together and it should run

if not then remove carb and clean carb passages, main jet, idle circuit.

My Briggs 5550 Generator wont start. We've changed out the sparkplug, cleaned the carburetor, and drained/put in fresh gas. If I spray carb cleaner inside the carburetor behind the air filter it'll start...

You have already located the carburetor. Remove it from the engine, and take the bowl off. Inside, you will usually find two jets (small brass plugs with a hole in the center of each). Remove each one and check the hole in the center for plugging. Soak the jets in carburetor spray cleaner and blow clean. Remove the float and the needle valve that it controls. Make sure the fuel passage under the needle is free of debris. If you are careful with the bowl, you should not need any gaskets. Make sure the two jets don't change places--the holes are different size. Spray some carburetor cleaner into the jet holes. Put some fuel system cleaner (not carburetor cleaner) into the fuel tank to help clean the carburetor further. Don't leave fuel standing in the tank for long periods. Hope this helps!

My gs 700 will not start i tore the carbs apart and cleaned the jets and still nothing i put carb cleaner starting fluid and still nothing

the gs700 has mikuni carbs, right? These carbs have a rubber fabric diaphram and o-rings, when you tore the carbs apart did you make sure to remove all rubber and plastic parts, all the jets have o-rings that would have been ruined, the plastic throttle/choke linkage should have been taken out. NEVER USE CARB CLEANER OR STARTING FLUID IN A MOTORCYCLE CARB. there are to many rubber parts. the rubber diaphram alone can run over $100.00 each. for the correct o-rings and gaskets I found ebay to be the best place to shop. Also, one of the characteristics of a suzuki in that era is they won't run right without the factory airbox installed. That cost me lots of time and money finding that out, lol.

I have a vtx 1300. it sat for 2months during

hi,sounds like you have a blocked main jet in one of the carbs, when the fuel sits in the bowls it will evaporate and leave behind a residue that is quite difficult to remove even with a carb cleaning compound, what i do in this case is remove the carbs, remove all the jets, place all the jets in a saucer or dish and fill with petrol, leave them for a few days, this will soften the residue, then use compressed air or a crc typecan with carb cleaner and force clean them by squirting the fluid through them,do not use(as some people do) a piece of wire to clean through them, this will scratch the inside of the jet and alter the fuel flow charicteristics of the jet and render it all but useless, once you have them all absolutely spotless, reassemble and put the carbs back in,just about put money on it that your problem will dissappear, hope this helps...cheers

Engine starts easily, but doesnt stay running. removed fuel cap, still the same, pulled off fuel line, its not plugged. With the air cleaner off if I spray in starting fluid it keeps running, but will stop...

sounds like a fuel problem in the gas tank or carb. If bad gas or debris gets into the carb fuel bowl, this will fowl up or clog the jets after you start to run your engine. you need to remove your carb and clean the fuel bowl and jets. use a jet carb cleaner to do this. without knowing what type of engine, make sure all ur jets are clean. use a fine wire to insure they are clean and put te carb back together. also check and clean the fuel valve area of the carb, the fuel line, and the fuel tank. never use last years gas and always run your equipment out of gas before you store it for the winter.

Pony only runs with chocke 98% closed

Most likely the carburetor jet is still clogged after sitting for years with fuel in it. Putting injector/carb cleaner in the fuel tank may help, but if not, the jet needs to be soaked some more -- or replaced.

Follow mixing proportions on the label for injector cleaner.

No water or solution through main unit

It is definitely the heater which is clogged. The heater is contained in the handle. Symptoms are that tools will displense cleaning fluid but main cleaner jets will not. Only the main cleaner jets use fluid which has been heated. The heater is quite easy to dismantle and clean however you will be working near mains electricity so ensure the unit is switched off and unplugged
