The program is attempting to access a file on the system, but it contains invalid characters for a filename (asterisk, question mark, colon, etc). Can't tell exactly what is going on without the source code.

VB6 error 432 File or Class name not found during automation

The GetObject function requires either a valid file name with a path specification, or the name of a class that is registered with the system. This error has the following cause and solution:

The name specified for file name or class in a call to the GetObject function could not be found.
Check the names and try again. Make sure the name used for the class parameter matches that registered with the system.

I want to map ip to hostname in visual basic 6.0 code can anyone know any library class which will resolve the DNS names in VB code pls send me mail as soon as possible

This is handled by the "hosts" file on a machine. That file lives in the folder: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

This file (named "hosts") is there for this purpose. You can modify it as you would any text file using VB6. Just be sure to maintin the file's contents format.

USB printing through DOS mode

Google for DOS PRINT USB, and you'll find some utilities that do this.

Or, you can include some commands in your batch file.

First, get the device name:

In a DOS window, type NET VIEW ComputerName (or use 127.0.0.1)

Once you know the printer share name, you use it in a batch file.

NET USE lpt1: \\ComputerName\ShareName /Persistent:Y

This captures the print queue to the shared printer.

You must also go into Printer Properties/Advanced/Print Processor and set it to TEXT

Your copy, print and other commands will work.

Any valid ctfmon.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. In other cases, ctfmon.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm! There is no good reason that it should be in the recycled bin. I would suggest first making sure you have a valid file in the location indicated. Then, if that is there, delete the file that is in your Recycle Bin. This file is necessary for running various tasks related to the language bar, and runs in the backround constantly monitoring the windows that are being utilized.

Based on the message you have indicated, it appears that you may have a virus or other malware. Aside from taking the actions above, you should make sure you have scanned and protected your PC from these destructive processes. Then you should not have any further issue. If you do, please let me know. Thanks for rating FixYa!

the path is all \'s not /'s. 10.0.1.5 needs a shared folder named scans and the copier needs a users valid login name / password for the computer sharing the scans\ directory.

try creating (if you have not already tried) the exact folder tree as [I:\DESKTOPPC\DesktopPC\Database\Toby3]. Now put the file "Tonys_work_be.mdb" into the folder named "Toby3".

MSACCESS Multi user APplication

Access is never good for multi-user with more than about 10 users! MS say: use SQL server. Of course, it all depends on the complexity of the app, the amount of data, transaction rate etc. You can also try putting the backend on a "real" server (15K rpm SCSI or sSCSI disc, Xeon CPU) and give it as much RAM as you can afford (at least 4GB) then you might get reasonable performance. If you can't do it any other way & a licence for MS SQL Server is out of the question, use MySQL as a backend: you can make Access clients talk to it as there is a free Access driver for it. You can even run MySQL under windows: you don't need Linux (although it will run faster under Linux). Setting it up is fairly easy and it will outperform an Access backend by at least an order of magnitude, if not 2 or 3 :)

I have four comboboxes in my form, by selecting the city, area, centre and batch the respective students satisfying this condition has to be displayed in the grid apart from that i have to display another column to mark attendance. I am using datagrid and mark P for present and A for absent. When i finished marking the whole data has to be stored in att table with the current date. The next day again the same class may be selected with the next date and has to be stored again. The problem is i am not able to store each person attendance. Please help me in this regard.
