thats what it sounds like. check as soon as it quits for spark.. the coils ar the ignition on these, its built in the coil,, if you have spark , could be the vapors, this is when thee carb gets too hot and vapor-locks..it need a shield between the carb and muffler
This is usually caused by the wire coming off of the coil (smaller one not connected to the spark plug) getting shorted to ground. This wire goes to the ignition switch and when the switch is off, the wire gets grounded. If it gets grounded while running, the coil will not spark. Make sure the wire is not rubbing against any sharp metal edges and disconnect from the ignition switch. If you still don't get spark, then good chance that the coil itself is bad. Before you replace the coil, try another spark plug first, just in case.
I had similar problem, I found the wiring harness where it plugs into the ignition switch get loose and breaks contact. I replaced the wiring harness it fixed the problem for a while. Then replaced the ignition switch and it helped for a short time. Now I just open the hood reach behind the ignition switch and wiggle the wires while turning the key until it starts. Been working for me for 8to 10 years.
it deffenetly sounds like the coil is bad . as the motor increases in temp. the coil pack expands thus loosing positive charge. change it if it has points filr them a little too remove the tartar you should have a sharp blue spark
Check your kill switch first take the small wire off the the ignition coil you could have a short I would not waste money on a wire harness once the small wire is off the coil thats all it can be is the coil if its not firing if its fuel thats another problem
coil{solid sate ingnition) see if u hav spark ground plug, low light {shade} to see spark,AWAY FROM BUILDING and GAS!! hav fire extinguisher handy..remove all ignitable fuilds, well ventilated area..if spark, check "kill" switches on throttle, clutch pedal and seat.
hi is this a point less ignition or electronic? check that your ground wire from ign. coil is not grounded causing no start.( last ign coil shot) good luck.
