Your CCFLs might be going bad. CCFL stands for Cold cathode fluorescent lamps. These are the lamps that provide backlight for the LCD Monitor. These lamps do not last forever, and are a very common part to go bad. The circuit that provides the power for the CCFL is called the inverter, it might be going bad, but I still think it is the CCFL. Only trained techs should try and replace a CCFL or fix an Inverter. CCFLs do contain mercury, but only small amounts.

You have a backlight issue. The backlight system is comprised of CCFL lamps and an inverter circuit board.

My advise, open up the back of the LCD and see if anything is not plugged in correctly. Maybe something got knocked loose.
Try and find the inverter board, does anything look bad on it.

If you are confused by now, don't panic, just get a new LCD, and sell the bad one on ebay. There are people who like to fix them. I have repaired a few backlight issues on LCD monitors and I do work on them professionally.

A friend who went overseas gave me this type C593. When I tried to hook it up it says no sync. He did not have the manual anymore and could not get hold of my friend to ask how it works, so I ask your...

No sync could mean the computer is generating signal at a frequency that cannot be supported by the monitor. As soon as Windows starts to boot, press F8 to display the boot menu. One of the choices will be VGA mode. Select it, boot into Windows, then set your resolution/refresh low. Reboot into normal Windows mode. If you now get display, then set the resolution/frequency to your liking (as long as supported by your monitor).

Computer does not display full screen

Check your desktop display settings. Sometimes programs change this and uninstalling or going to to another start point doesn't help

Start up problem with Samsung Sync Master 731BF 17" monitor

Your internal power supply is failing. There are parts called capacitors that are not functioning correctly and this causes the power supply to not be able too stabilize the voltages that run the monitor. After repeated power cycles the capacitors will hold enough charge to function until you urn the unit off and then they discharge so you have to start all over again. We have a step by step repair guide article posted at: This should get you back going again. Weird colors!

Normally this happens if the plug at the back of of the monitor or the computer loose. Try to secure that cable. If they are secure, check the pins on the ports at back of the monitor / desktop or the cable. I also suggest that you try a different monitor cable.

Samsung sync master 510 monitor display problem

It may be that the LCD monitor will not display all screen resolutions so you may need to change your resolution to match the desired resolution and refresh rate of the LCD. In your case the computer should be outputting:

1024x768 pixels
60 Hz

You can change these settings by right clicking on the desktop and clicking properties and they're under the settings tab. Change the screen resolution by moving the slider to the recommended setting (1024x768)

under the advanced button click the "monitor" tab - make sure the screen refresh rate is set to 60 hertz (60 hz)

Screen Doesn't show Transparent or High Opacity Images

Calibrate in the monitor menu the RGB values to sRGB space and disable all optimizations (movie mode, text mode...). Leave it in "Normal".
Also set carefully the contrast in the monitor to something like 60% and choose the right GAMMA in the image editing software.
Make sure you are using the native resolution of the LCD and check in the user's manual how to do the adjustments because all monitors are different.
All those settings are one-time programmable, once you got the right settings they don't need to be changed again.
