Open the freezer door and look down the ice chute while you shine a flashlite up the dispenser cute from the outside. If you see light around the chute door, it needs to be replaced or something is wrong with the mechanism. The problem you describe is almost always air leakage around that flap.
Post back with the complete model number from the fridge if you need more help.

Just wanted to follow up on your fridge and see what you found out.

Now we need to find out why the door is not sealing off. Look up inside the dispenser and see if the clear plastic chute is out of place and not allowing the actuator to come all the way back. If that is ok, move the door around with your finger. If it is loose and floppy then most likely something in the hinge system is broken. Look closely at the white plastic hinge that the door is mounted too and see if it is broken from the hinge pin. Look at where the metal hinge pin connects to the dispenser housing and see if the ear on the housing is broken off allowing the whole mechanism to drop on the right side.

Your model number starts with 106 as in.. 10659299991. You can go to sears, com, click on parts, enter the model number in and view a diagram of all the parts which will give you a better idea of what you are looking for.

If you need to get into the dispenser to see it better,

remove the cover over the top freezer door hinge and unplug the wiring harness connection going to the dispenser.

Look at the very bottom edge of the dispenser front where it meets the freezer door. You will see 2 small slots. Insert a screwdriver just into the edge of the slot and twist while you apply a little downward pressure on the trim and it should pop loose. The are hooked in pretty tight and when they come loose you will think something broke but don't be alarmed.

When you get the front off you can remove the screws that hold the switch holder and see the mechanism clearly.

I don't usually remove any wires until I see what needs to be done. If parts have to be ordered you can stick it back together until you have what you need.

Post back to let me know what you find.

Frigidare side by side refrigerator ice dispenser will only dispense crushed ice

1. Take out the ice bin to access the switch in the freezer.
2. Underneath the ice bin is a metal rod.

3. In the back of the freezer there is a square hole from where the rod came. Put your finger in this hole.
4. You should feel a plastic lever. If it's up, push it down. If it's down, push it up.
5. Put the ice bin back and try for ice again. You should receive crushed and cubed ice at this time.
6. If you push the lever up or down and it doesn't stay in place you should contact an authorized service technician for repair.

Inside of icemaker freezing up where ice drops threw door have cleaned it out a few times but it starts freezing again soon.

I am convinced there is supposed to be a seal of some type on the little plastic doot that closes up over teh openindg. MY ice maker has never worked right, it freezes up, the dispenser doesn't work and it leaks.

I'm on a mission to figure this out today.

Ge, tfx26kpda ww, ice maker only dispences crushed ice

At least yours is making ice. Mine wount even make ice. While toubleshooting my prob, I notice a metal rod on the bottom of the ice tray. This rod opens and shuts a plastic "trap door" in the tray. The position of that door determines whether the ice is crushed or whole. If the trap door is open the ice falls through the dispenser freely. If the door this closed the ice is force thorugh metal teeth where it is crushed then dispensed. Open the freezer door and take the ice tray out. You should see a hole at the back of the freezer that the metal rod goes through. In that hole there is a plastic square that moves up and down. If the set your dispenser to crushed ice, leave the door open, push in the door switch at the bottom, and press the dispenser. The plastic square does nothing while the motor is turning. That allows the door to stay closed and forces the ice through the metal teeth. If you set the dispenser to whole ice and do the same thing the plastic square is suppose to lift up forcing the door open and letting the whole ice drop freely. The plastic square probably does nothing even if you set it to whole ice. That mean the trap door never opens focing the ice to always get crushed.

Unfortunately, I have no solution because mine works and I had no need to investigate further. I hopes this helps you figure out the problem though

Good Luck.

Ice dispenser is stuck in crush mode

Carriage that moves ice bucket rod up is frozen. It's right by the auger drive mote on the left- square hole. Remove bucket and try to free it with your finger. If no luck take hair dryer until you can move it up and down.

PSS26PSTA SS - Only dispenses crushed ice.

Remove the ice dispenser bucket. You will see a square hole at the back wall with a horizontal rod in it. You should be able to move it up and down with you fingers. If not, it may just be frozen. Warm it with a hair blower and try again. If still no luck, the WR62X58 dispenser solenoid may be burnt out / melted and need to be replaced. It is attached to the metal just above and behind that square hole. The removable tray at the bottom of the dispenser recess is a part number WR17X12133 for a PSS26PSTA SS. Contact any GE servicing dealer or general appliance servicer near you to get one. You can get parts direct from GE also, but the won't be any cheaper, and you may pay more shipping and handling.

Frigidaire In Door Ice Dispenser

I had the same problem and just finished fixing it myself. 1st, slide out your ice bin about 3-4" and look underneath it. There will be a long brass rod running along the underside of the ice and goes into a little square hole below the ice maker. This rod runs the flap on the dispensor and keeps it closed for crushed ice and opens the flap for cubed ice. The is a plastic bar inside the little square hole that needs to be moved. Slide your finger onto the plastic bar inside the square hole and move it either up or down. Slide the ice bin back in and try cubed ice. If it doesn't work, move the plastic bar the other direction. This will fix your problem...........Good Luck! Dennis

The solenoid that controls the blades on the ice bucket is either froze up or defective. Remove the ice bucket and use a hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer where the bar on the ice bucket would go into the back wall. That plastic square in that hole should line up with the hole. Not be up inside the hole. Use the hair dryer on the back wall just above the hole with the plastic square inside it. The solenoid behind that wall is what controls the cubed and crushed ice. If that doesn't fix your problem replace the solenoid, Part Number 5304404333.

Let me Know how you Make out with your repair.

Thank you,

On the bottom of the ice bucket it has a metal rod that fits into a square hole in the back of the freezer.  Behind that square hole is a solenoid that actuates the rod on the bucket.  Take the bucket out, shut the door and press for ice.  If you hear a loud clunk noise then that is the solenoid moving up and down.  If you don't hear that noise then replace the solenoid.  Sometimes when the bucket gets taken out and put back in the rod is underneath that solenoid and doesn't let it actuate the rod.  If you find the solenoid is working make sure the solenoid is in the down position then put the bucket back in.  Let me know what you find.
