Products can still be deemed unfit for the purpose under the sale of goods act for up to 6 years.
Its up to you though to prove the fault was there when the T.V was supplied. Not that hard really!. You take it to a T.V. Repair agent (Yellow Pages) get a report on the fault (It had to have been there when it was made or it wouldnt have gone faulty unless you dropped it..) pay for your report as you can claim this back as well...
Go back to the retailer and tell him you wish to make a claim for the product for unsatisfactory quaility.

• A claim can be pursued though the courts for up to six years providing it can be shown that the problem was due to the work not being carried out properly or the goods or materials used not being of satisfactory quality.
