Tv makes a clicking sound when i turn it on but wont turn on

if just only clicking sound that was mean the cause either the regulator in the power supply is bad or the horizontal output transistor get damaged.

Sharp tv 20rs100s DEAD

If the televisions is DEAD first step to do the repair is,Check the AC cord if there's a continuity. If good check the fuse if busted or good. Then check the power supply from bridge type diode, regulator transistor and H-output.This checking can be done if you have a little knowledge in basic electronic. So if cant do repair and checking its better to call a technician.Thanks..

Chassis is completely dead

Here are some basic steps that will help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I would advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts in the power supply, you may visit the link for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact , don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatalcomponents stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only. I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the power supply. If you want to repair it yourself make sure that you have necessary tools and test instrument. First check bad solder joints(re-solder all cold solder), leaky electrolytic capacitor(sometimes it has bulged at the top but not all, you better have a capacitor checker), open/shorted regulator transistor/IC(mounted in heat sink), open fusible resistor (caused by shorted regulator Transistor/IC), shorted zener diode.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using fixya.

Picture cutting after 5-10 min-raster OK sound OK

The vertical ICs on this particular model have by now bad grounds. You will have to resolder this, and check any and all grounds on ICs mounted on heat sinks! Bad grounds are common and plentiful. Good Luck and thanks for asking!

No power or red led fuse good .toshiba 27df46

Hello Hloggins, hi, your power supply is not producing the pulse needed to start the switching. check for the IC on the oscillator part of the power supply, you need an Oscilloscope to test this. if there is no scope. i suggest you replace the IC.

No Power

all sets must have rated fuse for protection. some units now use what is called a PICO-FUSE.this type of fuse is soldered into the pc board. usually marked with location i.d. F301,F901,F400. etc. these fuses look like resistors or in-line coils. check continuity w/ohm meter. if new fuse blows as soon as you plug in tv, suspect bridge diode ciruit or main filter cap(large ripple filter by main fuse. if new fuse blows when you try to turn on, suspect 130v regulator or high voltage short(horizontal-output, flyback transformer) good luck!

No Power

I am having the same problem. I have done some research and found a notorious cap and diode problem with this set. The two 4700uf caps (C14113 and C14115) on the DM1 power board (the board to the left of the sat. box when you look at the set from the back) are under rated and will eventually fail. When these caps fail they tend to take out diode CR14105. This may be your problem. If it is, you can replace the caps with 4700uf 25V 105c and the same as original diode. In my case the diode appears to be ok. This info comes from some forums and a service buletin from Thomson Co.

whenever fuse blows every time it is the indication of short circuit in tv. so please do not put fuse unless you know the cause of blowing fuse. these are the reasons of blowing fuse. 1 main filter cap.short. 2 rectifier diode short. 3 swithing transistor short 4 horizontal output transistor short 5 caps & diodes connected to flyback transformer short. 6 print short. 7 at last if every thing ok then flyback transformer defective. hope this will help. if you are not a tech person call skilled tech to fix it. good luck

Vertical hold

You dont have enough vertical sweep!! Best thing to check is the vert output device and I think its an IC . BUT before that check the b+ going to that device and see if its low. I will run through a silicon diode right next to the ic. Measure both sides of the diode and if theres a big voltage drop then the diodes bad. Now also these sets are common for the b+ filter cap off thge flyback transformer. Its the voltage line that feeds that diode and the vert output section. Now measure all caps out of cucuit as most will measure good if you dont. Also just for giggles right nrxt to the big IC that has the vert ,horizontal video and sound drive there is if im not mistaking the vert parts start with c4-- or the ic will be ic4-- Its a small cap that will sayc4-- attached to nothing but the ground and one pin of the ic. I've seen this cap cause all sorts of vert problems in the past as its the vert waveshaper capacitor for the vert osc/drive. Good Luck
