Being shut out of gear like that is an indication that your clutch is not disengaging even when the clutch pedal is down. Revving to 3000 rpm matches speeds inside the gearbox, in effect shifting without clutch action.
I believe your clutch cable is broken, unattached at one end or the other, or is too slack to release the clutch.
IF you have a cable connected gear shift and it is not moving smoothly then the insides of the outer cable will be worn out and the inner is frayed and jamming. Replace the entire cable unit.
did you replace the cable or did it come loose? are you sure your talking about the clutch cable for shifting the gears or the rod for the clutch master cylinder under the dash?
everything everyone has said could be right...But! I bet that the shift pin assembly that your linkage hooks to needs looked at. I have a Kia that I had to replace. My son hit the curb and drove about a mile then when he shifted he could'nt get it back into gear. I took out the tranz and found that the shift pin assembly needed replaced. so you might as well replace the cluch and every thing else wile you have it all apart. Hope this helps
AUTO GEAR THE SERVICE MANUAL DOES NOT REQUIRE TO CHANGE GEAR OIL AND FILTER ,BUT TIME AND USAGE OF THE CAR MAKES THE OIL FITLY AND EVAPORATE EVEN IN CLOSE GEARS.SO CHANGING REFRESH THE GEAR SHIFTING USUALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM IF ITS NO TOO LATE ADV. CHANGE GEAR OIL EVERY OTHER SERVICE SCHEDULE.
The ticking is from the stater solnoid it mean its not getting enough voltage. try replacing the cables to the stater they might have corrosion built us insid ethe cables
