I have a Magellan Road Mate 5220-LM and it was working yesterday. When I got back to my house. I noticed it was flickering off and on. What should I do?

Hello Liz, You may have two problems. If your unit is several years old, the battery may need to be replaced. First charge the battery overnight. To get the screen unfrozen , you need to remove the screws on the back, open the case, and unplug the white battery connection . Reconnect the battery connection after a few seconds. If this works, it is usually a temporary fix . Either your battery does not hold a charge or your charger connection is poor at best and can not deliver a full charge to the battery. It could be both.

On the Magellan units (I have one) for updates you have to pay or buy one on most models--I know it says free updates but I found the only way was to purchase one.

1. Remove the SD card.
2. Reset the unit by the reset located at upper right side of unit.
3. When asked for the map card, insert back and press the reset again.

How to replace battery on magellan road mate 1412?

I have an extra unit. I don't have the magellan road mate manager. I would be willing to trade the whole unit if you could get me the magellan road mate manager cd. I hear there is another one that comes with it that would be great to have also. I have tried everything to get these cds but to no avail. comment here or email me at [email protected] if you are willing to do this.
