Question about Routers

D Link not working

I've had D Link for over a year now and I've never had a problem connecting to the internet. The router is conected to our desktop, and we have two notebooks in the house that we've always used our wirerless to connect to the internet. Now one of our notebooks won't connect to the wirerless. I've tried to run the D Link disk again but it won't work. Everytime I try to connect to the internet it says there are no networks in area, I refresh it and still no networks. Now my other notebook has no problem, so I confused as to what the problem might be, please help me.

Re: D Link not working

All right do not worry, as you says the other 2 pc's are working problem with the router, the proplem is only with the laptop,
the solutions are..
1. right clich, mycomputer icon, click properties, click hardware- device manager. and check in network adapters if your adapter is active.. if yes, proceed to step 2, or else, enable adapter first..

2. go to control pannel, open network connections, and right click, wireless network conn icon and click view available wireless n/ws, check if u see ur w/ls n/w . if yes try to connect to it, if you are not able to connect..

3. go to control pannel, open network connections, and right click, wireless network conn icon and click view available wireless n/ws, and clich change the order of the preferred n/ws
clear preferred n/w list and then try to connect still you have problem, check this steps and give me the error msg, so that we'll resolve the problem

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Setup of d link dsl-2740b on my computer

the dsl connection is your broadband signal. check the router box. if the dsl light is off or flashing on the front, the setup will not work. this light needs to be solid. remove all devices from telephone sockets in your house, connect just one filter and your new router to it. check the dsl signal, if the light is solid green. the problem is with the physical setup in your house. If the dsl light still flashes contact your isp or broadband supplier.

D-link 524 looses conection

check the timeout when idle settings on the router. you need to set it to 0 for never break the connection.

other options are to upgrade the firmware of the router.

you should also isolate the problem by connecting the pc directly to the modem to make sure the same problem doesnt occur. if it does then contact your isp.

good luck
