Check the fuse box for a blown fuse or shorted wiring going to the radio and cig lighter
I had the exact same problem on my 93 cherokee. It's a blown fuse, really cheap and easy to fix.
In my Jeep, the fuse that blew was located just above the brake and gas pedal, accesable from the drivers side.
1: Remove each fuse one at a time. A pair of needle nose pliers makes this alot easier, though isnt required.
2: Check the fuse to see if it has been blown. A working fuse will have a thin peice of metal connecting the two prongs together at the top. A blown fuse will most likely look like a mini grenade went off inside of it, the plastic will be burnt and the thin peice of metal will be gone. (don't worry, thats what its designed to do)
3: If the fuse is still good, replace it in the EXACT same spot you took it from BEFORE removing the next. (placing them in the wrong slot will either destroy the fuse or remove any protection the fuse was supposed to give... or simply cause things not to work at all.) If it is a blown fuse, replace it (once again, the same spot you took it from) with an appropriate fuse.
Fuses change quite a bit over time, but for the most part they are color coded... Mine was yellow. Yours might not be, but its a place to start looking.
