Check the battery is the correct kind and voltage. Check the battery for being installed the correct way. If you install the old battery, does the fob still work? If it does, the new battery is bad.

No, there is not. You MUST insert a working battery; otherwise, the computer will not work and the BIOS will not update.

I replaced the battery in a VW key fob with an exact match of the dead battery I found in it. The fob worked again but the new battery lasted only 1 day. I checked the manual and discovered that the wrong battery had been installed by the previous owner and I had repeated that mistake. I installed the correct battery and it has worked fine ever since. I suggest that you double check to be sure you are installing the correct replacement batteries.

Try not to install the battery while its on. Power down the laptop then install the battery and power back on the laptop. Hope that helps.

the radio is pulling down the battery, check to make sure it is install properlt, also make sure your battery is not weak, because remember the radio draws power at all time, to keep the time and your preset radio station. so check the battery for proper strenght first please.

The new battery is defective then. If the new battery was working then the meter would be able to read into the battery and recognize how much power is left in it. the problem more then likely is that one of the cells in the new battery is bad and since the laptop can't see all off the cells then it thinks the new battery doesn't exist.

Have the battery checked or better yet, replaced. Prolonged use might damage the charging circuitry of your machine.

Have you tried going through the setup screen and selecting the default values for the BIOS? Usually that is necessary any time the battery power is lost.

Lithium Ion batteries aren't something that you can really calibrate unless the laptop has a utility in the bios to do so (ASUS laptops). You either have a motherboard related malfunction in reporting the battery life as you say it does report in another laptop, or you need to update the ACPI driver which you can get from the manufacturer's website.
