Projector was working. Now sounds as though it has a slide jam and will not advance or reverse. Properly aligned as far as I can see. No slide jamming it.

Two steps. 1) Look down into the center of the carousel. There should be a round, flat silver knob with an elongated notch in it. Take a coin (US 5-cent piece or similar) and use it to turn the knob. This releases the catch on the metal plate under the projector. You should then be able to lift the carousel off. Be careful: some slides will fall out as the slot is not aligned with the carousel body properly once you do this. 2) Make sure the locking ring on top of the carousel is in place (or else take out all your slides. Turn the carousel over and gently rotate the metal plate covering the bottom of the carousel into position. You will hear/feel a "click" when it's in place.
The projector may have jammed because there are two slides stuck in the viewing slot--check for this before you put the carousel back on the projector. If it jams a lot the metal plate under the carousel may be bent.
It is a while since I have handled one, but as I remember, you have to line up the number 1 slide position with the slot in the projector and then it clips into place with a little pressure.
The KODAK Carousel 4600 was manufactured from 1981 to 2004. If the tray won't advance with the push button on the projector, but will reverse, then it is a contact problem under the handle. If it doesn't cycle in forward OR reverse, but the "SELECT" feature does work, then there is a problem with the cycle (orange) wiring or the slide-change mechanism requires an adjustment. If forward, reverse and select ALL don't work, chances are the low-voltage side of the power motor is no longer providing the required voltage. An authorized repair dealer can help you sort this out.
If the slide tray doesn't advance or reverse using the on-board or remote control buttons, chances are that: 1. You have a broken mechanism drive belt. 2. You have a jammed slide change mechanism module or 3. The mechanism trip contact is trapped behind its mating contact on the mechanism camshaft. All of these problems require service documentation & special tools. My recommendation is to find an Authorized Repair Dealer.
There is nothing wrong with your slide trays. Your projector needs an adjustment to the cycle contact assembly. The constant cycle mode is a dead-giveaway. You need to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer for this adjustment. Should be relatively quick - - it takes longer to get the case apart than to make the repair!
With the tray removed, cycle the projector in Reverse button 5-6 times. If it is just a mechanism jam from removing the tray mid-cycle, this will cure it. To set the tray back to Zero, FIRST make sure the locking ring is in place and tight on the top of the tray. Then turn the tray upside down & release the latch and rotate the bottom plate back to it's home (Zero) location.
the kodak projectors need occasional cleaning and lubrication of the mechanism. the grease gets gummy and sometimes siezes the moter as well. take it in to a shop for a good cleaning or, if you're mechanically inclined, you could do it yourself. just remember which screws go where.
Sure! Not only did Kodak sell an external automatic timer that plugs into the remote socket, a number of other companies had them as well. If you can't find one searching online for "Kodak slide projector plug-in timer", try: www.micro-tools.com Good Luck !
If the first slide is visable and consecutive slides are not, the "dark shutter" (a feature that prevents the eye-popping bright white screen when no slide is present) needs adjustment. A fairly easy adjustment for a factory-trained service dealer with the service manual and the correct tools.
You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.
