Is the smart setup (that is automatic setup) does not work, call your internet provider for the exact details (unless you have them) and do the manual setup.
You will save time.

My new/replacement modem: Motorola 2210-02, will not work with my old Netgear WPN824. I've tried everything I can think of, and I do not want to buy a new router. Any suggestions??? -Terru

If the modem and the router both want to be on, try setting the router to go to, or see if your ISP can provide you instructions for turning the router portion of the motorola off (Bridging the modem is the technical term). At that point they may be able to provide you with how to setup the router to work on your connection as the primary connection holder.

Netgear WPN824 router

You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

HI can't conect to interten my router netgear

To set up this router you need to "Dial into" it. Type into your browser window. In the dialogue box that appears type the default user name [ admin ] and the default password [ password ] . Now that you are logged in, there is plenty of information on how to setup your connection. Always set your default IP to "obtain by DHCP". These setting will become easier to understand once you are in the router setup.

Netgear wpn824x2 Router

The pc will have to have the ip address changed as the router will give a different one to your old modem. open up your web browser and go to tools, internet options and see browsing history, click on delete and delete all temp internet files and history, then click the connections tab and ensure that your modem is showing as the default dial up or if its a modem router ensure never dial a connection is ticked. go to your network card properties in network connections and on the TCP/IP line click properties again and ensure obtain an ip address is ticked, click ok, then restart pc. When rebooted, open web browser and refresh a few times, you should then be on the net.
