Check the network path. PDF files do not open only from network folders with DFS paths.
\\mynetwork\doc\manual.pdf
And everything perfectly works if in way to specify the server:
\\myserver\doc\manual.pdf
This problem is in protected mode of the program. That Adobe Reader X didn't give out more mistakes, this mode needs to be turned off.
1. Start Adobe Reader X
2. Go into Edit - Installations ...
3. In category choose the Basic
4. Take off the checkbox "Enable protected mode at startup"
5. Restart Adobe Reader X
Everything should work.
If the file does not open, then it means it is damaged. You will be able to recover it by using Recovery Toolbox for PDF

Look at this forum. There are tips on this topic. Maybe you will be helpful. Good luck!

The file should still be on your hard drive , if you it had it there before.
Denial of access usually means that you were not the one who wrote it and may not modify it. Usually one can read such a file , though. Not sure this was, at all, helpful, sorry.

Try another PDF file program, such as Foxit Reader, to see it it can open. If the same error occurs, the file is probably no good.

I get a Runtime error message constantly then a crash. can't open my pdf files.Using A Reader X

If your only intention is to open .pdf files and not Adobe Reader X problem, then there is a easy solution to open the .pdf files. You can use Foxit Reader or Nitro PDF Viewer as a PDF decoding software, These can give you the same results ( in some cases, more than you want!!!) with respect to Adobe Reader X. Amongst these PDF viewer, I recommend you to use Foxit Reader, as this is very much lightweight with respect to Adobe Reader (About 14 times smaller) and handy.

You can download these PDF readers by clicking over the following links:
And if you still want to use Adobe Reader X, then you should uninstall it and try re-installing it again, because it may be the problem of file corruption or improper installation of Adobe Reader.

Hope this helps,

We've provided solutions for some common PDF issues below.
General Tips: Problem 1: Blank Page in Browser You have selected to download a file and you receive a blank page with a "Done" message at the bottom of the browser. This may be because you do not have enough space in your temporary internet file folder to complete the download.
Solution: Internet Explorer: Tools> Internet Options> Temporary Internet Files> select Delete Files
Netscape: Edit> Preferences> Under Category on the left Advanced> Cache> click Clear Memory Cache
Problem 2: Blank Page "%PDF" You received an error message containing "% PDF" or you have received a blank page while trying to download. This is due to a problem with your web browser not opening .pdf documents correctly.
Solution: Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0: Edit> Preferences> General> Options> Web Browser Options> make sure the Display PDF in Browser box is not checked.
Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 and newer: Edit > Preferences > Internet > make sure the Display PDF in Browser box is not checked.
Problem 3: "Error Locating Object Handler" You receive an error message that says "Error Locating Object Handler" while trying to download a document. This is because there is a dependency with a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat while using Internet Explorer.
Solution: Please go to the following website for detailed instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q262213
Problem 4: Unable to Print You have successfully downloaded the pdf, can view it on your computer screen but are unable to print. This is due to a post script error with your printer.
Solution: In any Acrobat Reader program: File > Print > check the Print As Image box > OK

I updated my reader to v9 and now cannot open up

I have seen this before, First try rebooting your computer, if Adobe Reader has an erro trying to open a document once it will cause errors on every other document you try to open until the system is rebooted. If that does not resolve the issue you will likely have to uninstall then reinstall Adobe Reader.
