I'm afraid you will not be able to update to iOS 7. The iPod Touch 2nd generation is stuck on iOS 6 due to the fact that the CPU is inadequate to handle the newer iOS. Mine is updated to 6.1.6(10B500) and has been that way for a long time. Every time I check in Settings > General > Software Update it says my software is up to date. While it is possible there might still be a revised iOS 6 sometime in the future, I won't be holding my breath as they seem to have already worked all the bugs out of it as is.

It's not possible as apple did not release a firmware for that. You would have to upgrade your iPod if you wish to use iOS 7 or 8.

You just need to update the firmware! Either do this over wifi or plug into iTunes!
