Question about Compaq NX6110 TFT XGA Notebook
There are settings in the bios and also on the key board by pressing fn and + brightness
these settings are different for battery and power mode

You need to dig around on your machine and find the program the machine came with which controls power usage and adjust the PLUGGED IN versus BATTERY settings; they have gotten reset somehow. Check first in the system tray in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
