Question about AT&T 1725 Answering Machine

1 Answer

Machine features I have had this machine for quite some time but can no longer find the manual for it. One of the features allows me to set the number of rings before the machine takes the call. One of the settings is "T/S". Can you tell me what this means or does? I'd appreciate it.

Re: Machine features

It is for "toll saver".

If you are out of town and want to check your messages, you can call your machine and it will only pick up in 2 rings if you have messages waiting and 4 rings if you don't. This saves you the long distance charge when you call to check your messages. You will know after 2 rings wether you have messages or not and can hang up if you don't.

Have problem changing auto answer to longer than 3 rings

Press and hold the SET button to enter the change mode. The unit announces the current time and day. Press SET repeatedly until the unit announces the rings to answer. Press and release NEXT or PREVIOUS until the unit announces the correct number of rings for the answerer to pick up. Once the rings to answer is set, press SET to enter the incoming message length menu.

How to set time on the southwestern bell answer machine FA982B

I went to the southwesten bell freedom phone site on the web. Found answering machines.  My old machine was not listed, so I found instructions for a later machine.
The method for setting time was similar.  I tried it and it worked fine.
Your high prices prompted me to be less lazy.

Number of rings

Looks like 6 is the Max, according to the Manual.

Setting the Ring Time
Ring Time allows you to set the number of rings the caller hears before your
answering system plays the outgoing message. You can set the ring time to answer
after two, four, or six rings. If you enable the Toll Saver (TS), the answering system
picks up after two rings if you have new messages and after four rings if there are
1) Enter the Answ. Setup menu, and then the Ring Time
submenu (see "Entering the Menu Option" on
page 16).
2) Press volume up/down to select a Ring Time (Toll
Saver, 2 Times, 4 Times, or 6 Times).
3) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Toll saver is a feature where you can call the phone yourself, if there are messages it wil answer in 2 rings, if not it'll answer in 4 rings. The idea is to hang up on the 3rd ring and save the LD changes.

Hope that fixed Ya...
