SOURCE: router no longer working since new modem was
Reboot the router so that it can get a new dhcp lease.
If you can't login to the router to reboot it, just unplug the power for about a minute, then plug it back in.
If that doesn't work you will need to be able to login to the router to fix it. Depending on your internet supplier, you may have to set the router to login to the router.
Good Luck!
SOURCE: Every time my power goes
With changing the IP and all that business it may have messed it up a little bit.
This may not be the most sophisticated way of fixing it, but this is what I personally would recommend. THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ROUTER CONFIGURATION, but at this point that should be a good thing.
On both the Comtrend modem and the Linksys router, there should be a "reset" button. Grab a pencil or something long and skinny to press the reset button. Press on the reset button for 5 seconds on both the Modem and the Router.
Then make sure all of your wires are plugged in correctly. Go into your Router's web configuration by opening up Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc. and typing "192.168.1.1". The username should be "Admin" and the password should be "password".
After you log in, change the Wireless settings and setup a password for your network and a name for your network.
Unless your Router is truly is faulty, then it may still reset on a power outage, but it should retain all of these settings.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for using FixYa.
