SOURCE: Low volume on LG HDTV

I encountered the same thing using the HDMI interface on my new TWC cable box (Motorola DCX-3200). After a little bit of research, I finally fixed it by changing the digital audio mode in the cable box using this procedure:

1. Be sure the TV is on and connected to the cable box.
2. Using the cable box remote turn power OFF.
3. Immediately press the MENU key on the remote. The USER SETTINGS menu should appear on the TV screen.
4. Select the ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS >>> menu item.
5. The ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS menu will appear.
6. Scroll to the AUDIO OUTPUT item and select this.
7. Change the setting from AUTO to L-PCM.
8. Return to the main page
9. Using the remote, cycle power OFF.
10. When the cable box is turned on again, you should be good to go.

I realize these instructions are specific to the DCX-3200, but there may be a similar setup option available in your cable box as well.

The problem here is that the cable box is by default configured to use Dolby Digital audio, which requires an additional 10dB of headroom to deal with the boosted LFE channel. If the cable operator hasn't taken pains to set the system up correctly (and most haven't, apparently), the digital audio level sent on the HDMI interface will be approximately 11dB down from normal analog line levels on the HDTV channels. Changing to straight linear PCM sets the TV receiver audio level on the HDTV channels to match the levels on the non-HD channels.

The only problem with this fix is that if you intend to feed a Home Theater receiver that uses Dolby Digital processing with the cable box output you will lose the Dolby encoding feature and be forced into straight 2-channel stereo. For a simple installation like mine where I'm just feeding the TV, this fix works fine. If you have a more complex setup that takes advantage of Dolby Digital features (when it's available in program material), you may have to live with the problem.

For a technical reference on why this happens, see http://www.megahz.com/specimages/Dolby/LM100%20Cable%20App%20Note%2011-05.pdf

Hope this is useful.

SOURCE: TV STUCK ON MUTE??????

You did not give a make and model for the TV so I can only offer a general solution. You may need to reset the sound board. This can be done simply by unplugging the TV for about 10 minutes.

SOURCE: lg tv very slow to turn on

slow turn on's are usually a power supply problem, capacitors in particular. Are you comfortable with opening up the set? If it is under any kind of warranty don't open it, take it back to the place you purchased it.

Turn Off Auto Mute

Did you try unplugging the television? It may reset if it is unplugged for about an hour or so.
Might try unplugging it when you are going to be away for a while.

Volume on my Sceptre tv goes up automatically on its own

I tried those things but didn't help. On my sceptre tv, the volume continues going up or down on its own shortly after changing via the remote. I found that if I press the Mute button 2x (off then on again) after setting the volume it will stay put! The mute button stops it from changing on it's own. Its only a work-around that works for me but maybe it will help others.

I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma tv that is making a very loud static noice coming from the internal speakers. It stays at a contstant very loud volume unless I completly mute the tv or turn the volum

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

When i turn the tv on the volume is stuck all the way up and if i mute it it stays muted until you turn it off and back on

Muting is not designed to lower volume it shuts it off completely That;s why it resets when turned on and off.
Unless by muted you mean you can lower the volume to a listenable level but it reverts to full when you restart it.

Try using settings and set the volume and the type of sound(mode) you want then when you exit the menu it sshould save those settings.

Same problem as don5625.my moxi box will not control volume mute or power on my olevia lcd hdtv

moz-screenshot.pngmoz-screenshot-1.pngf3b19af.jpg

Is this the style of Moxi remote that you have?
If so try these steps to find your TV
1. Turn on the power to your TV.
2. Press and hold down the MOXI and OK buttons.at the same time until the LED at the top blinks twice.
3. Press the numbers 9910 on the remote and the led should blink twice again.
4. Press the mute button. If the TV mutes then press OK to lock in the code. If the TV does not mute press the up arrow once then press mute and continue to press the up arrow once then press mute until the TV mutes once the TV mutes press the OK button to lock in the code.
*** Note this may take a couple minutes of trying to cycle through the code list to find which one will work with your TV *****

Good Luck...
