Am I better off replacing the whole board or just the pot? Behringer B215A
I would try cleaning the pot first, then if it still is not working, replace it. THe board would be the last resort.
How do I clean the pot?
Get a can of contact cleaner spray. I prefer DeOxit D5. You can try justspraying it down the pot's shaft, but the best way is to disassemble the amp to the point you can get to the rear of the pot and spray a small amout into te opening that is either in the top of the pot or where the contacts enter. with the power disconnr=ected, twist the pot full on/off a few times. Power up and see if that worked. Ivf not, try resoldering the pot to thew board, if not , replace the pot, if all that doesn't work, replacw th board. If any of this sounds too hard, take it to the repair shop.
So I took the amp apart and got some cleaner and sprayed it into the pot. The pot started moving a lot more freely (which I'm not sure if it's necessarily a good thing cause it used to be greased) but when I put the amp back together it's doing the same problem, it works when you push the pot shaft over to the left. . And when you turn it up, it hisses a lot but can still play at a decent level, just not as much as it used to be able to because I have an identical one that plays much louder and clearer. Do you think this is just a bad pot that needs to be replaced?
As I said, if the cleaner doesn't help, replace the pot, and then if it's still not right, the board. However, if any of this sounds wrong or not something you're experienced with, take it to a repair shop. I'm not there where I can hear it, so I'm giving a "best guess".
right right. and by the way I really appreciate the help. One more quick question, do you happen to know where I can order a replacement pot from? Or a board? For a Behringer b215a
The only board source would be Behringer. The pot could be sourced from a number of internet venders or Behringer. Just google the value. Behringer may or may not sell you the parts directly, and if not, you're back to having to take it in.
do you know where I can find the value of the pot? there was no numbers or anything printed on the pot itself.
