Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson vacuums, DC41 includes a thermostat which shuts the machine down for protection if it starts to overheat. If you've already washed both filters - in normal use we recommend doing this at least once every three months - there may be a temporary blockage somewhere in your machine.

To resolve this, please follow each of the steps shown in our two video guides below. This will ensure the wand, hose and all internal ducts are free of blockages:

I'm confident this will help, and get your DC41 up and running as normal again. But if you would like some further help from our experts, you're welcome to get in touch directly. In the event of your machine needing a repair, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Used bissell how do i know if parts are missing

The main water tank is two staged; you put clean water in and the flexible bladder allows the machine's pickup suction to fill. This removes the need for two tanks (but it's harder to clean out the suction tank area). Just remember to clean the filters each use. There's one on the underneath of the clean water tank cap and one under the FLOW INDICATOR cap. You may need to get a User's Guide. Try calling the Consumer Care at 1-800-237-7691 Hope that helps.

Why does my Vacuum shut off!

Has this happened numerous times? If so, and the filters (all filters) are thoroughly cleaned then its possible the thermal protection circuit could be worn out in the motor. If not, it could be an assortment of other issues. Could you please provide more info?

your motor in the vacum is getting hot.Thats why it shuts off.Its fitted with a shut off switch to stop you doing any damage to it.1 The reason for getting to hot is that you are filling the cannister to full.Try emptying it half.good luck.

Automatic "shut off" not turning off

Check the filter in the tank, if a dual V model you will have a screen, if not a dual V move the foam filter down about 1/4" to help. The lid on either model needs to be securely in place, as well as locking the left and right latches. On the Dual V model, check the hose door on the front.

Problems with the Hoover Steam vac Heated carpet cleaner

This happens when the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank is pushed all of the way up. You need to leave a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.
