Replacement is a steel conn. BES-830154, when I replaced it it still leaks badly. Seems as though the clip slot is too wide creating too much play. almost seem like there should be an o ring between the line and conn seat. any suggestions?
SOURCE: breville ESP8XL Espresso Machine Cafe Roma leaking.. help please..
We had that happen and it was a crack in the black ring that holds the filter. Breville could not supply us with one but we found an OEM part in aluminum from http://www.vancouverwireedm.com/caferomadiyt.htm. We received it 1 week after ordering. It was pretty easy to replace. Our machine works fine now.
SOURCE: Can't get tight fit between basket & steam ring
the proper replacement steam ring has an up-side & down side. the brew-head plate must be installed with the grooved side facing up; the steam ring has a groove in one side that fits over the top up the brew-head plate...does this solve the problem? if not, you may have the wrong steam ring/the brewhead plate may be installed incorrectly...oh, nov of 08...i seriously hope you've figured this out already. if not, you don't happen to still have machine in your possession, do you? if so, i'll buy it for $5.

Use a continuity tester or multitester to test for continuity.
Set the multitester to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each
terminal. A reading of infinity indicates a bad solenoid that must be
replaced. Different brands and models will have various measurements,
but the valve should show some resistance if it is functioning properly.
Test the second one in the same way as the first.
If the solenoid is working properly, but water leaks through the valve even when the washer
is off, then the valve itself is the problem. Debris may be preventing
the valve from closing. If the valve cannot be cleaned, it will have to
be replaced.
The valve can also fail mechanically. So even if it passes the
electrical test, it may still require replacement. If you have ruled out
all other possibilities, go ahead and replace the valve.
