Question about Panasonic 42 Class 720p Plasma TV TC-P42X5

1 Answer

I was watching TV it shut off and the power button flashed a bunch. I unplugged it waited for a while plugged it back in. It did not turn back on until i held down the menu button on the set.

Turned on for 10 minutes then turned off again power button flashed 12 times. I have unplugged it. the forums say its the sound board but the tear down videos and parts places don't have a sound board for this model. Any help on what the issue is or where the sound board is would be appreciated so i can decide if it is worth fixing. thanks

SOURCE: Power issues: will not turn off or function

Unplug all of the speakers and power on.Its possible that one of the speakers is causing the protection circuit to activate. If powered on and subwoofer works start reconnecting one speaker at a time( after powered off) and retest each time. One Speaker may be bad.Its also possible the output ic is failing under a speaker load. There are no fuses related to this issue. If its not a speaker problem then the subwoofer will need to be serviced.

SOURCE: The unit SC_HT67 don't turn on

It sounds like a faulty voltage regulator or diode on the power supply of the stereo. If you can check these things yourself also check for dry joints before checking diodes and regulator/s. If not trust a competant techmnician. Good luck.

SOURCE: When i turn on my Panasonic stereo set model

Hi denty56,

F61 is an error code for short and or overload. This will appear once the processor sense a malfunction either on the power supply or on the load (high chance is the output IC). DIY steps are as follow to determine where the fault is : 1. Allow the unit to cool down for an hour. Give proper ventilation and keep away all obstruction from the vent to have a sufficient air flow. 2. Disconnect one at a time the speakers, inputs, from the unit while powering it on.

If the unit back to normal again then you've confirmed that any of the above caused the error code. If #1 is the caused, you have to check also the exhaust fan, clean it as much as possible, replaced if faulty. If #2 is the caused (speaker) check the wire and speakers for short, (input) check the RCA cord for short or replaced if necessary.

If the above simple fix didn't cure the error code, you can try the next steps if you are an electronicsenthusiast. Now after removing the cover, you have to concentrate first on the power supply board. Look for bulged electrolytic capacitor. Leaky capacitor will affect the regulation of the supply and will trigger the error code. Look for dry joints. Check it also in the pre-amplifier stage, main output board where a big heat sink is located. Next disable the output amplifier stage by disconnecting the supply. If the unit come out, make some re-soldering on the board, spot the cold solder and dry joints and then try to connect again. If the error code appear again, high chance that your output IC is faulty but still to be confirmed. Using the disoldering pump and soldering iron pull-out the output IC from the board then try the unit. If the error code disappear, confirmed that your IC is faulty. After trying the abovesteps-by-steps guide and still the symptoms persist this is the time for you to send it to repair shop. Remember that your unit has a lot of parts and only some basic steps have done, leave the expert to troubleshoot the entire unit.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.
Thanks,

Lcd sharp tv flashing green light

Try unplugging the unit and while unit is unplugged hold the volume up button and channel down buttons down and while depressing both buttons plug the unit in. Let go of the buttons and the unit should come on in the service mode. There will be a small k on the screen. With the sharp remote press the channel up button once. This should bring up a menu that will show a lamp error line. If the lamp error is = to 5 the unit is in lamp error shut down. User channel down to highlight that line and curser right arrow to highlight the lamp error #. Hit the enter button to clear the lamp errors. Now unplug the unit and let it sit for a minute and plug back in. I hope this corrects the problem. If the unit does not come on by doing this or if it does and you do not find lamp errors the power supply pcb may have been damaged by the surge.
