Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

What else can cause this leak

Changed water filter and a leak developed overnight between the top of the water filter and the water filter head. Tried two new filters, leak continued. Changed the filter head, leak continued. Bought and replaced another filter head and the leak continues. All of the new filters had the required O rings intact. When the filter is removed there is no leak. What else can possibly cause this leak?

Jennifer thanks for your comment. However I have been changing the filters on this refrigerator for four years without incident. What makes you think that anyone else could a better job. You don't need an engineering degree to change a water filter.

What causes leak between filter and filter housing on kenmore elite model 40141003010.

Hello Emile;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I assume your changed the below component:

25693704-zbtre13rzitqz5mqvrpod1im-1-0.jpg At the ends of the plastic tubing are plastic push pull connectors. If the tubing is not properly seated and locked into the connector you will have a leak.
You may also have a crack in the connecting tubing from the water tank.
When you use your water dispenser, the water dispenser solenoid valve allows 65 PSI water pressure into the plastic tubing line, where if you have a bad connector or a crack in the line will cause a leak.
The is a plastic cap on the top of the above component.
1.) Put your fingers behind the above component where the tubing goes into the plastic mounting head. More often than not you can get bad parts
2.) Have someone push the water dispenser lever. Observe if water is running down the plastic tubing or if your fingers are getting wet.

H-104 developed massive leak!

The water is under pressure so any leak can become serious quickly. The fault can be attributed to inadequate parts but also the ring may have been improperly seated during installation.

Radiator toyota camry 1998 v6

You may have

- a coolant leak somewhere, comes out when the engine heats up and pressurises the radiator. Camrys do develop a crack in the plastic radiator top tank, which can be hard to see if on a seam. Another place which leaks is under the intake manifold, which is not visible. There is a test, called a "leak-down" test

- thermostat stuck closed, preventing coolant circulation

- a leak through a head gasket from a combustion chamber to the coolant jacket. This will quickly cause overheating, and sometimes causes white bubbles in the radiator neck, like dry ice. There is a test kit available for gases in the coolant.

I have a 1995 monte carlo ls with a v6 in it and it over heats. I have changed the thermostat, watched both fans come on and off changed the radeator cap. if I pull the cap off after it has set overnight...

There should be a little bleeder usually located on top of engine that you open when the car is running to bleed the air out. If this hasn't been done you may have air pockets trapped. Also check the fins of your radiator and AC condensor to make sure they are not damaged or full of dirt or debris that will restrict air flow. The inside of your radiator may be getting plugged up. You may have a head gasket leak. If a head gasket leaks exhaust into your cooling system it can cause overheating. If you can run your car with the radiator cap off watch for bubbling. If you notice a bunch of bubbles exhaust may be getting into your cooling system.

White smoke means water getting into cylinders. Usually leaking head gasket, or possible intake manifold gasket if the manifold is heated with water! You need to see your service people again. Weather conditions should never cause this problem. The oil leak might be fixed by tightening all of the perimeter bolts on the oil pan.

WATER LEAK FROM FILTER

It sounds as if the filter head is broken after the check vavle since it doesnt leak until filter is installed or bypass plug. one thing you may check before you call for service is remove the filter head cover and check to see if a water line is pulled loose otherwise I recomend you call GE for warranty service. thanks peyton

1985 diesel after sitting overnight will not start

The check valve is a small brass fitting where the return line attaches to the filter head. I believe it takes a 7/16" wrench. There is a 'duck bill' inside that prevents fuel from leaking back to the tank causing air in the system. It should allow flow in only on direction. Some times you can see light through it if it's bad enough. Also, the lines between the injectors can dry out and start to leak air. Air will leak in before fuel leaks out, and you won't see it. There are plastic, cup-shaped connectors for these hoses that press onto the top of each injector. They are sealed by two o-rings on each injector body where it meets the connector. These o-rings can dry out and also leak air and fuel. Your Ford dealer or diesel service professional should have the proper o-rings. Any other o-rings might not seal, as they won't be the exact size. You already changed the fuel solenoid when you replaced the pump. It is inside. There has to be battery cranking voltage to it while cranking, and battery voltage with key in 'on' position. The wire attaches to the top of the pump. This is not likely to be the problem, since it restarts every 2 hours.

Spraying GE Artica

Check to be sure the filter wasn't frozen. Temp should not be below 35. A plugged filter will not cause leaking. If water still leaks from above filter, you need to replace filter head.
