No, there is a key in the shaft that ensures that the flywheel is lined up properly. These sometimes shear and the flywheel slips on the shaft, this causes the timing to go affordable as the magnets don't pass the coil at the correct time. Remove the blower cover, undo the centre nut, slip up the flywheel, replace the key in the keyway in the shaft and realign the flywheel. This should solve the problem.

for the cam shaft yes it should have timing marks that make sure your cam shaft and crankshaft are aligned. the keyway on the flywheel ligns the flywheel up with its ignition cycle obviously but yes the cam has marks for the crank

Have oil spitting out of carb and dip stick fill tube just started doing that on 19 hp kohler courage


if engine is not overfull you have bad rings on piston have to take in to have it done may end up short blocking it witch is cheaper to do replace rings cheaper by far 200.00 per cylinder

you check the oil with the dipstick resting on the tube, not screwed in
then check your fuel supply as it might have water in it
then remove valve covers and see if you have a valve guide seal that has moved

If the mower has been stored outside the magneto could have rust on it. Remove the top of the engine cover. There is a coil that's bolts to the block the the magnet of the magneto passes by as it rotates. See it there is rust on the magnet. If so. Take a fine grit sandpaper and remove the rust. The rust changes the air gap causing no voltage to the ignition coil. Thus no spark at the plug. I've corrected this problem twice with same symptoms as yours.

19hp kohler blowing gas out valve cover. will start and run but starts blowing large stream of gas.


the fuel pump is driven by vacuum from the engine so it could just be a bad pump

Hello, I need to know how to adjust engine timing for Kohler Command, 22hp engine, manufactered in 2007 on a Cub Cadet 2544 Heavy Duty tractor. Thanx, Rick


If you have what i think you have. The only timing adjustment as such would be in the coil to magnet air gas. Which is usually around .125 thou.

The other timing is done internally, when you line up the marks on the cam gear with the marks on the crank gear. good luck and be careful
