Bought a Pfaff 230 sewing machine I have threaded the. Achieve e made sure the bobbin was in right and the bobbin thread will not pick up

Make sure you have installed a brand new needle. If the problem persists, most likely the machine is out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

How to thread a bobbin, sears Kenmore model 158.17031

Place both the bobbin case and the bobbin on the table in front of you. Have the open side of the bobbin case facing up and the bobbin with the thread of the bobbin unwinding clockwise. Drop the bobbin in the bobbin case. Pull the thread tail up through the notch in the bobbin case and then to the left under the thin metal plate until the thread appears to be coming out through the hole in the side of the bobbin case. (When you pull the bobbin thread, the bobbin should turn clockwise in the bobbin case.)

Model 230. Why is it losing the thread at the needle everytime I sew?

The thread sounds like it is not running freely so the upper tension is either too tight or blocked by lint.
If neither of these solutions work then try changing your needle as a blunt or wrong needle can also be a cause

How to thread a bobbin

Which Singer machine do you have? I know how to wind and insert a full bobbin for some models.

Some wind the bobbin with it in the case. This is the case with my Touch & Sew. Inserting a full bobbin is simple. Open the slide plate and drop in the bobbin with the rings up. Make sure that to hold the bobbin thread so that it comes off at the left. Then close the slide plate and make sure that the end of the bobbin thread is coming through the notch. Hold onto the threads and turn the handwheel until the top and bottom thread come back up with a twist. To wind a bobbin for this machine, open the slide plate (some models have a little mark to line up the slide plate). Put in the empty bobbin and thread the top normally. Set the machine to straight stitch and push the bobbin wind button in. (This has a bulls-eye symbol on it.) Wrap the end of the top thread around the presser foot screw several times and hold onto the end. Step on the foot control to start winding. Keep winding until the bobbin is full. The thread wound onto the screw should break. Pull some extra thread and cut it to separate the top and bottom threads. Close the slide plate and set your desired stitch.

Other models are wound at the top of the machine. For some of with a drop-in bobbin, you need to bring the thread down to a catch and then off to the left to another catch. Some have a vertical bobbin. I don't remember if they all have a removable case. Those that do need the thread to come through a notch on the case that pulls the thread under a spring that keeps the bobbin tension. However you should check your manual. If you do not have a manual, check if one is available online. (http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals has many of the Singer manuals for sale or download.)

If you post a comment with the model of your machine, I'll give you a description of threading the bobbin or winding one.

I need a manual for a model 230 consew, I recently bought it from a friend, I want to learn how to thread it, and wind my bobbins, can you help me, unable to find one

You can go to the consew official website and download the PDF file for the 210 model. It's the same as the 230 r-1 (which i have). I found this information by calling the consew headquarters. You can also download a PDF with the full parts list for the 230 model specifically. This link may help http://www.consew.com/default.aspx?pageId=4

I want to adjust my bobbin tension on my 230 viking sewing machine but I don't know how.

1. remove the clear bobbin cover
2. slide the needle plate towards you and remove it, do not pry it upward or you'll break the gray plastic housing that supports it.
3. remove the gray plastic piece that is on top of the black bobbin case.
4. remove the black bobbin case from the machine.
5.Look on the side of the bobbin case for a small hole with a screw deep inside of it. That is your tension screw. Turning it to the right increases the threads resistance and left loosens it.

You know you bobbin tension is in the right range with the following test: Have your machine in the ready to sew positon. Meaning the bobbin has thread on it and it's in the machine and the bobbin thread is coming up through the needle plate. Gently pull on the bobbin thread to feel the amount of resistance. It should be slight not tight. If you pull on the thread and feel a light resistance your problem is not your bobbin. If you have looping on the bottom of your fabric, the problem is the top thread.

1. Pull up the spool pin as far as possible, and then put a spool of thread on this pin. windingbobbin_a0991.jpg
2. Pass the thread around the pre-tension disk. Make sure that the thread passes under the pre- tension disk.

Caution If the spool of thread is not in the right place, the thread may tangle on the spool pin.

3. Pass the end of the thread through the hole on the bobbin from the inside of the bobbin. windingbobbin_a0993.jpg
4. Put the bobbin onto the bobbin winder shaft and slide the bobbin winder shaft to the right. windingbobbin_a0994.jpg
5. Turn the bobbin clockwise, by hand, until the spring on the shaft slides into the groove of the bobbin. windingbobbin_a0995.jpg ac099.jpg Spring on the shaft ac0991.jpg Groove of the bobbin

6. Turn on the sewing machine. windingbobbin_a0996.jpg
7. While holding the end of the thread, gently press the foot controller or press start/ stop button (for models equipped with the start/stop button) to wind the thread around the bobbin a few times. Then stop the machine. windingbobbin_a0997.jpg
Note
  • If the sewing machine is to be operated using the foot controller, connect the foot controller before turning on the machine.
  • When the foot controller is plugged in, the start/stop button cannot be used to start sewing (only for models equipped with the start/stop button).

8. Trim the excess thread above the bobbin. windingbobbin_a0998.jpg
Caution Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
If you do not cut the thread completely, and the bobbin is wound, when the thread runs low it may tangle around the bobbin and cause the needle to break.

9. Slide the sewing speed controller to the right (to set the speed to fast).
(For models equipped with the sewing speed controller.) windingbobbin_a0999.jpg ac0992.jpg Sewing speed controller
10. Press the foot controller or press start/stop button (for models equipped with the start/stop button) to start. windingbobbin_a18.jpg
11. When the bobbin seems full and begins spinning slowly, take your foot off the foot controller or press start/stop button (for models equipped with the start/stop button). windingbobbin_a19.jpg
12. Cut the thread, slide the bobbin winder shaft to the left and remove the bobbin. windingbobbin_a191.jpg
13. Slide the sewing speed controller back to its original position (for models equipped with the sewing speed controller). windingbobbin_a192.jpg

Caution Not winding the bobbin properly may cause the thread tension to loosen, and may break the needle.
woundbobbin3.jpg ac0993.jpg Wound evenly ac0994.jpg Wound poorly

Note
  • When the sewing machine is started or the handwheel is turned after winding the thread around the bobbin, the machine will make a clicking sound; this is not a malfunction.
  • The needle bar does not move when you slide the bobbin winding shaft to the right.
