How do I shut off head phone.

There is a possibility you have a mechanical issue. To narrow it down, first make sure you do not have the ringer switch turned off on the side. Then, go to the phone's Settings, find Sounds, and make sure the volume is up. After doing that, completely power the phone off and restart it. Test to see if the issue is resolved. If not, use a computer with iTunes on it to plug the phone in and back it up. Once backed up, restore the iPhone to factory settings using the Restore iPhone button in iTunes that shows up on the phone's page in iTunes. When the restore process is done, you will be asked if you want to set the phone up "as new" or restore the backup you made. To eliminate the possibility that there is something corrupted in your backup, set it up as new-- you can restore the backup later. If you still have the issue, you have just verified that it's something broken inside the phone. You can call 1-800-APL-CARE to set up service, expect to pay between $150-$250 for repair unless you are still covered by factory warranty or an AppleCare plan.

My i phone 4 keeps freezing up, and this message saying "this accessory is not optimized for your i phone" keeps popping up. Ive tried resetting the phone, but in a day the message starts back up

Go into Settings and verify that Bluetooth is disabled, it may be trying to connect to another device.

Try clearing any debris out of the headphone jack on the top of your phone. Compressed air or rubber coated paper clips will work.

Then press and hold both the Power and Home buttons for roughly 10 seconds, release as soon as you see the Apple logo.

Forgort samsung jack password

Try this to reset your password if you have locked yourself out of your blackjack two:

1. the phone will not let you power off

2. so pull the battery out and then put it back in

3. before powering on with the button on top of the phone hold down the Up key on the direction pad/dial and while holding this down push the power button on top of the phone

4. a screen will come up asking you do you want to reset the phone back to factory settings

5. follow the prompts saying yes and there you have it your done, you can finally get back into your phone

6. Don't make the same mistake twice and lock yourself out again.

Reminder: doing this reset will delete everything on your phone and all settings restoring it back to factory defaults so you will have a price to pay by losing your information but if you have everything backed up and synced with your desktop it will all be restored by re-syncing your phone with active sync.

Relocated to new house - disconnected phones and have them recharging - forgot what I have to do to have them connect to get dial tone - recall it was something very simple. thanks

This is posted under a "cellular phones" heading, but I'm going to assume you have cordless phones that you're trying to hook up again.

Remember that the base unit needs to be plugged in to power and also to your telephone line. So be sure the base location is near an AC outlet and that there is a phone jack somewhere nearby. You may also want to verify that the phone jack you'll be using is actually working. It may not be connected, or may be wired to a second phone line. You never know when you move in. Plugging in a plain old corded phone will let you check for dialtone.

Plug in the base unit power, connect it to the phone jack and put the handset on the base and you should be back in business. If you have a phone system with multiple handsets, you'll need to place each one on the base to register it.

This should get your phones working if you have a regular landline coming in to your new home. If you use an Internet phone service like Vonage or you have service from a cable company, you may have to get someone to check the wiring if you don't have dialtome appearing at the jacks.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

L7780 cannot get dial tone on 2-line outlet. Are there any work arounds to this problem?

There is a problem either with the Line Interface Unit (LIU, also known as the fax/phone line connector) or the fax hardware, because the unit is having problems sending or receiving faxes. The unit may hang on "Initializing." This document explains how to troubleshoot the LIU and fax hardware. SOLUTION: Please perform the following: Front panel hangs on "Initializing"
  1. Pull the power cord connector from the back of the base unit to recover from the error.
  2. Unplug the LIU from the back of the ADF. It is located on the left side (facing it), and is where you plug in the telephone lines.
  3. Plug the power cord back in, power it up, and see if it hangs without the LIU inserted.
  4. If it does not hang without the LIU inserted, power the unit down, plug the LIU back in, and power it back up. If it hangs, the LIU is faulty.
  5. If it does hang without the LIU attached, unplug the ADF from the base and see if it hangs. If it does, the base is faulty.
Testing the LIU The primary test for the LIU is whether or not you get a dial tone. Sometimes, you need to re-seat the phone line several times to get a good connection. If after trying the things below, there is still no dial tone, or initialization hangs, the LIU may need to be replaced.
  1. Verify that the phone line is connected directly from the wall jack to the plug in the LIU that says "To Wall Jack."
  2. Verify that the LIU is plugged securely into the product. If it is not, there will be a message at power-up saying the LIU is not connected. If it is, the date and time will display.
  3. If the LIU was re-seated, cycle the power on the unit. The unit should display the date and time.
  4. Unplug all other accessories, like a telephone answering machine or modem. If the LIU appears to work fine after unplugging them, these accessories may be interfering.
  5. Place a document in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). The display will flash "Document Loaded."
  6. Press Start Fax to verify there is a dial tone. If so, try sending a fax.
  7. If there is not a dial tone, unplug the product from the wall jack, and plug in a regular telephone to verify there is a dial tone at the wall jack.
  8. If there is no dial tone on the telephone, the wall jack or phone line may be faulty

I just purchased this phone and hooked everything up correctly, but the Line in use light is on and the handheld states line in use and the answering machine will not respond to pick up messages. What is...

The phone will do this if it isn't (or thinks it isn't) connected to a working phone jack. Try a known good phone (corded type) in the jack to verify that in fact there is dial tone there. Also make sure that the line cord is firmly plugged in at both ends until the latching tabs snap into place. Sometimes it's just a poor connection because the plug isn't all the way in. You can also try another line cord. Bad ones do pop up sometimes.

If everything is correct with the phone jack, take the phone back to the store for an exchange. You have a dud.

Dropped in water, shut off, riced it 32hrs, died in Itunes bckup

Yes... The backup is seperate. By restore, they just mean restore to the factory defaults. After you restore, you will be able to choose to restore the phone from your latest backup. Let us know if you have trouble. After I went swimming with my 3GS, I did the same procedure. It works great, I even seemed to get longer battery life for awhile, but my power button doesn't work. Weird. Good Luck!

Just tried to hook up a new 6310 all in one. Can't get the fax to work Says an active phone line was not detected. The phone line when put back into the phone works ! Mike

Verify the phone line is being plugged into the correct jack, there are usually 2 - one for a phone and one to connect to your existing phone jack. See if your phone works when connected this way, if not then there is a problem with the jacks and/or internal modem in the fax.

LCD Display keeps flashing "INITIALIZING"

It needs to be plugged into a properly configured Avaya Definity digital port / wall jack. (NOT a regular telephone line as this can damage the polycom!!!) Does another Avaya digital phone work in that jack? If it does then call polycom for a RMA and eturn the phone under warrenty. If another Avaya digital phone does also does not work you need to check the PBX configuration or there is a wiring error at the jack or the PBX.
