There is no fix for, just keyboards from time to time get fry. I will first blow the keyboard with air (canned or compressor) and test.
DIY keyboard replacement.

Buy a new one.

SOURCE: touch pad and keyboard freeze after startup

Well this might not solve your problem but it may help others. I thought I was having the wierdies! on my new Acer Aspire 5315 after happily installing Suse 11.0 and getting all but wireless to work. Yes even Crystal Eye was identified and Skype picks it up and give me a great pic.
Suddenly this morning for no apparent reason I could no longer use the touchpad only the mouse 'logitech' worked. Checked everything and then did a search using and got here. Tried all the suggestions including taking the battery out but nothing. Sat and pondered and then looking at the keyboard noticed that F7 had a little hand and finger pointing to a square icon just below and to the right of the F7. Umm! let see whar happens when I use the Fn and the f7 keys. BINGO!!!! Touchpad loves my fingers again.

Might help if anyone else has similar Aspires or laptops with lockout like this.

Try these steps.. Click start button, type "mouse" on Search Programs and Files, click "mouse" under control panel. In mouse properties you an see the touch pad driver tab? click it. Choose or click option button and you can enable the right and left click button. About the keyboard problem,,,,,go to device manager, right click the standard PS/2 keyboard..uninstall it. Windows restarting and the keyboard driver will re install automatically.. check if the keyboard works fine.

HP Pavilion dv7 keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Go into the device manager to see if the touch mouse and keyboard is listed, next check to make sure they are enabled, if everything checks out! the keyboard and touch pad will need to be replaced. But first I would go online to HP and contact customer support and the technical department to see if something was overlooked.

My mouse pointer not moving if i use touchpad, but if i use usb mouse it works well.

Try to press Fn (locate at the bottom left of the keyboard near CTRL )and at the same time tap F9 (on top of the keyboard), you will see the status if it's enabled or disabled, just tap F9 to make it enabled.

I just had windows 7 installed on my laptop, now my mousepad won't scroll. how do i fix this?

you probably haven't installed the touch-pad driver yet. go to the computer manufacturers website and look for the touch-pad driver that is specific to your laptop

Also I would say that it is a setting in your control panel if you have used any other mice or install another mouse drivers it may have affected you touch pad. I would suggest looking at the synaptic setting and see if there is an option to set the touch pad to default settings. If all else fails you can try to reinstall the synaptic drivers from the laptop support site. I hope this helps.

I have an Acer Aspire 5517. Just the other day, my touchpad and keyboard stopped working. What do I do?

1 . Look for Fn function key - Most laptops have this special key Fn that is next to the Ctrl key on the keyboard. It should have a blue or green color, easy to find.

2 . Look for F1 to F12 functions keys, they are on the top row of the keypad. Look for one has an icon that looks like the touch pad, which is to control the touch pad of your laptop. It maybe F8 or F9 depends on each make of your laptop. These function keys also control the brightness, sound, wireless etc.

3 . Now hold down the Fn key and the F10 key to enable the touch pad, in this example, the Toshiba laptops. You press them again to disable it

4 . If none of the above works, plug in an USB mouse, then check into the Control Panel -> touch pad or mouse configurations. Also, check Device Manager if the touch pad driver is installed and working properly.

Thanks.Have a great day.

The mouse pad on my Acer Aspire 5315-2713 is no longer working. I've had the notebook aprox. 1.5 years. What can I do?

Make sure the mouse pad is enabled. Check the manual or web site for your model. Generally, the mouse pad (and other functions) can be accessed by pressing the Fn key + a specific F_ key (1-12).

Sometimes this device or others can accidentally be disabled.

Can not get the mouse to work the touch pad is not working

Hi, first test with an external mouse, and then check your device manager, you can get there from control panel, system, hardware tab, device manager button. If there doesn't look like there is any anomalies you are going to want to check the bios peripheral device section to see if there is any options for mouse, probably will not be, bios is either F2 F1 or Delete. After that reseating the touchpad would be a good idea, sometimes it just gets loose, unfortunately you will probably need to call up a tech, as it will need to be taken apart. If all fails then it will just need to be replaced, the touch pad comes as a single part you buy with the top plastics that go around the keyboard. Suggest using model of laptop and brand when you search and to use if you can, it will be cheaper.

Acer aspire touch pad not working

There are many possible fixes. To do some forensic work it would be best to know what was going on when the touch pad stopped working. It could very easily be the driver. You can see if that's it in device manager. Locate your touch pad device there and right-click on the device, choose "update driver".

Some laptops, my Toshiba for instance, have an option to configure the touchpad to disable when it senses a USB mouse or keyboard connecting. I have mine set to disable because when I'm typing on the onboard keyboard and I accidently slightly brush the touchpad, it sends the cursor all over the page and usually I lose everything I just typed.

The problem might also be a matter of a bogus setting in the Service Manager. There are a number of services that are related to your touchpad or mouse.

Touch pad driver.

Uninstall the driver from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drive automatically. If this doesn't work, check the touch pad connection, they will sometimes work loose ar get a little dirt/corrosion build up. The connection is under the keyboard. At this point, if it's still not working, then it has failed and will need replaced.
