Replace the batteries.....use the matching process in your manual to make sure the controller and tv are matched up....check the tv settings by using your buttons on the tv...to make sure it hasn't been set to function manually...and not to respond to any remote controls....replace the remote controller....make sure the receiver eye or sound collection area of your tv is not covered by a drape or decoration of some sort...and clear and free of obstacles to communicate with the remote controller.....make sure the tv and cable box are correctly plugged into the electrical receptacle and to each other.....you may have to program your remote control to control your cable box too...instructions in your manual....or call the cable company and they will set your cable box controller to control your tv ......step by step over the phone.....it could be a high number of other things...like your neighbors remote interfering or the hamm radio guy down the street interfering.....but there are a few basic things to check out before calling a tv repair guy to come and get you working.

Good luck and I hope I was some help.

Question?
Whenever I turn on the television, the GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes on.
Answer:
The GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes up when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. There are several ways to turn off this function if you wish, depending on your model.
Option A:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Options.
Select Off.
Option B:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
Select Off.
Option C:
Press GUIDE on your remote control.
Select the Menu bar.
Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
Choose Review Options.
Select Off.

I know Option C worked for me!!

Given the many TV models, it's possible that accessing control of this feature in the Program Guide menu may differ on your TV. For specific instructions for your model, see your owner's manual.

SOURCE: RCA TV f27422 TURN OFF THE GUIDE PLUS

Hello, I have had my TV for 3-4 years and have dealt with this stupid guide popping up for the last 2 when I got curious to see if it was something I wanted to use. FINALLY I came across a solution - so far so good but tomorrow it could be back? I did not have the option field some suggested to use. So saw another suggestion for something else and so far so good. When going into the setup guide. Select the USA, place all 0's in the zip code area and NO for everything else.... no VCR no cable, etc.
Hope this helps..
I also was able to do this without the remote - IF you can get the menu to pop up you just have to use the numbers to select what you need. Found the remote and saw nothing different as far as menu options. Good luck.

I bought a 27 inch tv in 2002 now the tv guide

Here is a whole forum discussing this.
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/2/138384.html

It sounds like you need to reset your local zip code to 99999 then unplug the TV for at least 12 hours. Then plug it back in, reset to your real local zip code and go through the guide setup menus.

RCA BIG SCREEN TV WONT TURN ON HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!

Try unplugging it for about 30-60 seconds, then plug it back in and before you turn it on, make sure there is a good video source going to the TV either from Satellite/Cable or a DVD player or something.

If this doesn't work, try unplugging it a bit longer and then plug it back in and try again. If it still does not work, you may have to take it in and get it serviced.

Usually when devices power themselves off like that, there's something wrong...

I hope this helps :) Good luck!

Best Regards,

James

Help me remove the Guide Plus Grid on my RCA television

Simply enter 00000 for the zip code and complete the set up process; if you're in Canada, select the USA as your country and use the zip. However, you MUST complete the set up, including allowing the TV to search for appropriate code. In the long scheme of things, location and codes don't really matter because you won't see the GUIDE again.
