Make sure your 12V constant is hooked up as well as the 12V switched. Make sure the Harness is Good. I have had a new Harness where one pin in the connector was not making contact. It drove me nuts
Try disconnecting your battery, reconnecting it, and resetting your stereo. If that doesn't work, the constant power (yellow wire) or ignition wire (red wire) may have come in contact with ground or isn't properly connected. Make sure everything is connected properly and try resetting your stereo. If it is still flashing "protect", the unit needs servicing Contact JVC Customer Care Center at: 800-252-5722.
On your JVC wiring harness the speaker wire colors are:
Left front (+) - White
Left front (-) - White/Black
Right front (+) - Gray
Right front (-) - Gray/Black
Left rear (+) - Green
Left rear (-) - Green/Black
Right rear (+) - Purple
Right rear (-) - Purple/Black
