Question about Panasonic Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic KX-FPG371 that functions as fax-only. After two rings, the fax now picks up every time, even if I have the TAD configured for 1 ring pickup. Any suggestions appreciated.

Change the mode setting to phone only

Sorry, that doesn't do it. Just bypasses the TAD and generates a fax carrier +CONNECTING....; TEL-only, TAD 1-ring, doesn't matter. It just desperately wants to be a fax. Which is fine, really, but I'd very much like to have TAD and fax capability without having to buy a new machine. I'm convinced that it's a config error. Is there a hard reset on this thing? (I've already tried reverting to factory settings on advanced options, but no dice. And thanks for the prompt attention, too.)

the panasonic machine has a menu button. By going into that there will be a section that once activated will have the machine print out a users manual and faults solutions for the machine on the fax paper
I have found it very helpful in determining what is wrong and how to set items

Hooking up fax to KX TG7871 Panasonic Phone

There is excellent support here on basic fax setups. You have what is known as "Distinctive Ringing Service". There are pros and cons to the various setups. I assume you recognize the rings and answer only when the ring for the landline talk comes on. The fax will pick up the faxes, and the answering machine will pick up the voice.

Need model number of your fax - google that!

Distinctive Ringing Service setup While it is not available everywhere, a distinctive ringing service can be purchased from most telephone companies. With this service, more than one phone number is assigned to the same phone line. Each phone number will ring differently. The main number will ring with a normal single ring and the additional number will ring with a distinctive ring pattern assigned by the phone company.
When a distinctive ringing service is used, set the Rings to Answer to 2 and then follow the steps below to set the distinctive ringing pattern:
  1. Press Setup , press 4 , and then press 1 to enter the Answer Ring Pattern setup of the Advanced Fax settings.
  2. Use the Right Arrow to scroll through the available settings. When the ring pattern assigned by the phone company displays (double or triple rings), press OK .

How do I increase the number of rings on my Brother MFC-780n fax/printer before it picks up?

Setting the Ring Delay

setting of 4.
(See Operation from extension telephones on
page A-4 and Easy Receive on page 4-3.)
1 If it is not illuminated in green, press
(Fax).
2 Press Menu/Set, 2, 1, 1.
3 Press ▲ or ▼ to select how many times
the line rings before the MFC answers
(00 - 04).
Press Menu/Set.
(If you select 00, the line won’t ring at
all.)

Can you fax out? if not, look at the ports where the tel cord comes in from the wall. There are probably 2 ports. One labeled "line" or "wall" and the other labeled "tel" or "acc". MAKE SURE the cord in plugged into the "line" or "wall" port. If it is plugged into the other, you will still get a dialtone, but you will not be connected to the faxes modem. Hope that's all it was. If not let me know Ed
