How can I get the upper case letters to work when entering my Network Password?

During the initial setup I went to enter my Network Password using the IR Remote, which requires upper case letters. When I selected the Shift Key the letters on the onscreen keyboard pad showed upper case letters but when I selected a letter a bar appeared above they keyboard with highlighted chinese characters, which I assumed corresponded with the letter I selected. Unfortunately, none of the letters I selected showed up in the password field but if I selected a chinese character from the bar above it showed in the field but the connection failed as I'm sure my router doesn't recognize chinese characters. I did notice that when selecting the "Shift" button that a pop up between English and Chinese would appear from the button but nothing seemed to change anything in terms of the keyboard or its functionality. The bottom buttons, i.e., shift, space, done were half off my screen on the bottom too; not sure if I can shrink the image to get the whole image. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How to change my password

Change Router Passwords

Network security has become a very real and important issue.
The ability for people to access sensitive hardware and information is a critical issue and all the measures that can reasonably be put in place to stop this act should be implemented.

One way to protect your network hardware is to change the password for access to your router from the factory default to one that is unique and private.
Read on to learn more.

Open your Internet browser, type the address of the router into the URL address bar, and open it. The address is typically in the form of 192.168.X.X.
This is the local network address.

Enter the account name and password to open the router setup utility.
Navigate through the setup utility until you find the screen that will let you change the password. You will need to enter the old password to change it.

Decide on a new password that has good security to a hacker.
The best password is more than 8 characters and uses both lower case and upper case letters and numbers.

Some will allow you to use special characters also.
Do not make the password anything that can be found in a dictionary or any date of significance.

Enter the old password in the change password page of the router.
When prompted then enter the new password.

You will be asked to enter it twice to confirm that the correct password is entered.
Immediately, record the new password in some secure location that you can find if you forget it.

Confirm the password change on the router page and log off the router.
To check the information and that the router has been setup correctly with the new password, open the router address in the browser again and login with the new information.

If you are able to login, you have successfully changed the password.

How will i change my password

First: Navigate to the router's web admin page by going to it's IP address, this is usually 192.168.1.1, but you can look it up in your computer's network settings. The IP address of your router is called the "Default Gateway". If the Default Gateway is not 192.168.1.1, use what is there.
After you get to the web admin page, use the current admin username and password to login. If you don't know it, try the default, usually admin/admin or admin/password. Once you're in the router, you can change the settings as you wish.
Hope this helps and feel free to ask questions if need more help!

Want to connect an iPad to wireless router, it won't accept password ?

Make sure you are entering the letters in upper-case when entering the password to connect to this router. The iPad always shows letters on the keyboard in upper-case, but they may be entered in lower-case and it will not connect.

How do i change the router network password? what is the ip adress??

The internal, LAN-IP address is normally set to a default, private number. Linksys routers, for example, use 192.168.1.1 for their internal IP address. D-Link and Netgear routers typically use 192.168.0.1. Some US Robotics routers use 192.168.123.254, and some SMC routers use 192.168.2.1. No matter the brand of router, its default internal IP address should be provided in documentation. Administrators often have the option to change this IP address during router setup. In any case, however, the private LAN-IP address remains fixed once set. It can be viewed from the router's administrative console.
The external, WAN-IP address of the router is set when the router connects to the Internet service provider. This address can also be viewed on the router's administrative console. Alternatively, the WAN-IP address can be found by visiting a Web-based IP address lookup service like http://checkip.dyndns.org/ from any computer on the home LAN.
Another way to identify the public IP addresses of routers, involves executing a ping or traceroute command. From inside a home network, the (DOS) command "ping -r 1" will send a message through the home router that will cause its IP address to be displayed. For example, "ping -r 1 www.yahoo.com" should result in a message like the following displayed on the command prompt:
