Find a motor shop and they should take care of you with a generic motor. Replace the capacitor too if it has one.

If you have a contractor friend, have it purchased by them. If not Google search the motor model number and source a vendor online.

Can't locate the motor model number to source it. If I knew the H.P. and rpm I could just source I could source a vendor online, I do have the physical dimensions.

I HAVE A UPSTAIRS UNIT AND A DOWNSTAIRS UNIT AND BOTH HAVE THE FANS TURNING THE WRONG DIRECTION, AND A REPAIR MAN TOLD ME YOU COULDNT REVERSE IT BY SWITCHING THE WIRES AND JUST SCRATCHED HIS HEAD PLEASE...

Swapping wires won't reverse an OEM motor. The only way to reverse the motor is to change the field. Take the motor apart and flip the armature to the other side and she will go in the other direction but if the motor don't go back together right then it will pole out and lock up. Lots of trouble trying that one. Now some generic motors have provisions to reverse direction by swapping around some shorted designated wires that are added specifically for that purpose. If that is OEM it won't have those wires. One thing you could do is get some new blades that turn in the direction you desire and are the same size and pitch..

Can you please tell me if the plastic fan at the back of the motor can be replaced thank you best regards. john.

You can, but you'll have to purchase from an electric motor distributor. I don't know the exact motor that is in that machine.

Part Number 596141-3 is the entire motor assembly which is only around $65.00. Pretty good investment for a tool that is still retailing around $400 with the added assurance of a warrantied part.

Installed new distributor in 97 Chevy Vortec V6

Check the wire harness to the Ignition control module (ICM) or replace it. It cost around $40,00 from Auto Zone and it's common for the ICM to fail, or it may just be starting to fail and it's also know that the OEM distributor had a screen vent at the bottom of the distributor for ventilation to prevent condensation from forming in the distributor. Check to make sure your new distributor has a vent and that it's not plugged up with shipping plastic. Condensation may be forming causing the misfire in the distributor. Good luck and keep me posted.

Motor mount, front right, solid or hydraulic?

Hello wrygrl...The OEM (orginal equipment) passenger side motor mount for the 1988 olds ninety-eight was a hydraulic type. After market "solid" type mounts are available for replacement...either type will work. Shop around and get some price quotes, i believe westar makes a solid type mount that sells for around 22 bucks.
Hope this answers your question. Have a safe and happy memorial day weekend.

COILS IN FREEZER FROSTED/TEMP WON'T GET BELOW 45 '

can you feel air blowing out of the vents in the freezer comparment.sounds like the evaporator fan is not running. this is common with refrig's that have been stored for a long period of time. the fan motor bearings will seize.the motor is easy to replace your self. remove the screws in the rear panel of freezer compartment you will see the fan at the top of the coils. the fan can be purchased thru sears or any appliane parts distributor. you will need a omplete model number off of the unit it is loated near the ceiling on the right hand wall of the refrig section. good luck peyton
